1. Introduction

The HUAWEI AX3 Dual Core Wi-Fi 6 Router (Model WS7100) is designed to provide a high-speed, stable, and wide-reaching wireless network experience. Featuring Wi-Fi 6 Plus technology and a dual-core processor, it offers enhanced performance for multiple connected devices.

Key features include:

  • Wi-Fi 6 Plus Technology: Delivers faster speeds and improved signal coverage, even to distant areas of your home.
  • High Device Capacity: Capable of connecting up to 128 devices simultaneously across dual bands for a fluid experience.

2. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your HUAWEI AX3 Router:

  1. Connect Power: Plug the power adapter into the router's power port and then into a wall outlet. The indicator light should turn on.
  2. Connect to Internet: Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the WAN port (blue port) on the router and the other end to your modem or optical network terminal (ONT).
  3. Connect Devices:
    • Wired Connection: For wired devices like computers or gaming consoles, connect an Ethernet cable from the router's LAN ports (yellow ports) to your device.
    • Wireless Connection: On your Wi-Fi enabled device (smartphone, tablet, laptop), search for the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) printed on the bottom of the router. Connect to this network using the password provided.
  4. Initial Configuration: Open a web browser on a connected device and enter the default IP address (usually 192.168.3.1 or routerlogin.net) to access the router's web-based management page. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your Wi-Fi name, password, and other network settings. Alternatively, download the Huawei AI Life app for easier setup and management.

3. Operating

The HUAWEI AX3 Router is designed for optimal performance and ease of use.

3.1 Wi-Fi 6 Plus Performance

Leveraging Wi-Fi 6 Plus technology, the router provides significantly improved speeds and coverage compared to previous Wi-Fi standards. This allows for smoother streaming, faster downloads, and a more responsive online gaming experience across all your devices.

3.2 Connecting Devices with Huawei Share

For Huawei smartphones, simply tap your phone against the router's NFC area (marked with the Huawei Share icon) to instantly connect to the Wi-Fi network without needing to manually enter the password. This feature provides a quick and convenient way to get online.

3.3 HarmonyOS Mesh+ Networking

If you have multiple HUAWEI routers that support HarmonyOS Mesh+, you can create a seamless mesh network throughout your home. This eliminates Wi-Fi dead zones and ensures consistent, strong signal coverage as you move from room to room. The system intelligently switches your device to the strongest signal available.

3.4 Multi-Device Connectivity

The router is designed to handle a large number of connected devices simultaneously, making it ideal for smart homes with many Wi-Fi enabled gadgets. Its dual-band capabilities ensure efficient traffic management and reduced congestion.

4. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your HUAWEI AX3 Router.

  • Placement: Place the router in an open area, away from obstructions, large metal objects, and other electronic devices that may cause interference. Ensure good ventilation around the device.
  • Cleaning: Regularly clean the router's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check for and install firmware updates through the router's web management page or the Huawei AI Life app. Updates often include performance improvements, security patches, and new features.
  • Heat Management: The router may become warm during heavy use. Ensure it is placed in a location with adequate airflow to prevent overheating.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your HUAWEI AX3 Router, refer to the following common solutions:

  • No Internet Connection:
    • Check if the WAN cable is securely connected to both the router and your modem/ONT.
    • Restart your modem/ONT and then the router.
    • Verify your internet service provider (ISP) connection status.
  • Weak Wi-Fi Signal or Dead Zones:
    • Relocate the router to a central location in your home, away from obstacles.
    • Consider using the HarmonyOS Mesh+ feature with additional HUAWEI routers to extend coverage.
    • Utilize the built-in Wi-Fi Diagnosis feature in the Huawei AI Life app to identify signal weak spots and optimize placement.
  • Slow Wi-Fi Speed:
    • Ensure your devices support Wi-Fi 6 for optimal performance.
    • Check for interference from other electronic devices (e.g., microwaves, cordless phones).
    • Limit the number of active devices or bandwidth-intensive activities.
  • Cannot Access Router Management Page:
    • Ensure your device is connected to the router's network (wired or wireless).
    • Try clearing your browser's cache or using a different browser.
    • Verify the correct IP address or domain name for the management page.

5.1 Wi-Fi Diagnosis Feature

The Huawei AI Life app provides a comprehensive Wi-Fi diagnosis tool, including a heat map feature, to help you visualize and improve your network coverage. This tool can identify areas with weak signals and suggest optimizations.
