3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Connection Diagram

This diagram illustrates the wiring connections for the DC-DC Charger in a typical RV setup, connecting to both the main (starter) battery and the sub-battery (house battery).

Note: All wiring requires separate purchase. Cables are not included with this product; please prepare them separately if needed.

3.2 DIP Switch Settings

The image shows the DIP switches used to configure the charger. By operating the 5 switches (S1-S5), you can adjust the battery type and charging voltage.

• S1 and S2: Set Absorption Voltage
• S3 and S4: Set Float Charge Voltage
• S5: Set Charging Mode

3.4 D+ and LC Ports

• LC Port: By connecting to the LC port, the charging current can be limited by half. (Recommended cable size: 0.75～1.2SQ)

4. Operation

4.1 3-Stage Charging Process

The graph above illustrates the 3-stage charging process (Bulk, Absorption, Float) that fully charges the battery.

• Bulk: Charges the battery at the maximum current until it reaches a set voltage.
• Absorption: Charges at a constant voltage, reducing current as the battery approaches full charge.
• Float: Maintains the battery at a constant, lower voltage to prevent self-discharge.

4.2 LED Indicators

The charger features LED indicators to communicate the charging status and battery type. Refer to the tables below for detailed explanations.

Note: The Charging Indicator may change under the following conditions:

1. Red to Yellow: When the voltage reaches 12.2V under voltage recovery.
2. Yellow to Red: When the voltage drops to 12.0V under voltage warning.
3. Yellow to Green: A. When it reaches constant voltage charging state, the charging current is smaller than 3A, lasts for 30 seconds; B. When the charging current is higher than 3A, it keeps charging until it reaches constant voltage state and the current drops below 3A, lasts 30 seconds.

4.3 Alternator Type and Starting Battery Voltage

4.4 Charging Current Distribution (Solar + Alternator)

When using both solar and alternator inputs, the current is split. For example, the RBC30DIS model will provide 15A from solar and 15A from the alternator, totaling 30A.

• Periodically check all wiring connections for tightness and corrosion. Clean any corroded terminals.
• Inspect the charger for any physical damage or signs of overheating.

• Verify that the battery type settings are correct for your installed batteries.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your DC-DC Charger, refer to the following basic troubleshooting steps:

• No Power/LEDs Off: Check all battery connections and fuses. Ensure the starter battery voltage is above the cut-in threshold.
• Error Indicator On: Refer to the LED Indicators section (4.2) for the specific error type (over-voltage, over-temperature, reverse polarity, etc.) and take corrective action.
• Battery Not Charging: Verify that the correct battery type is selected using the DIP switches. Check solar panel connections and output, and ensure the alternator is functioning correctly.
• Reduced Charging Current: Ensure the LC port is not connected if full current is desired. Check cable sizes against recommendations in section 3.3.
