4. Setup
- Install Batteries: Open the battery compartment cover located on the bottom of the trap. Insert 4 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the battery compartment cover securely.
- Apply Bait: Lift open the bait door at the back of the trap. Using a toothpick or cotton swab, apply a pea-sized amount of high-protein bait (e.g., peanut butter, hazelnut spread) onto the metal plate at the very back of the trap, opposite the entrance. Avoid touching the metal plate with your fingers. Close the bait door.
- Placement: Place the trap indoors in areas where rodent activity is suspected, such as along walls, in corners, or near entry points. Ensure the trap is placed on a flat, stable surface. The trap is designed for indoor use only.
- Activate the Trap: Slide the power switch to the "ON" position. A green light will flash briefly, indicating the trap is active and ready to catch.

5. Operating Instructions
Once activated, the OWLTRA Electric Mouse Trap uses dual infrared sensors to detect when a rodent enters the chamber and reaches the bait. Upon detection, the trap delivers a high-voltage shock (6,000-9,000V) for instant and humane elimination.
Indicator Lights:
- Green Light: A solid green light indicates a rodent has been successfully captured.
- Red Light: A solid red light indicates low battery and that the batteries need to be replaced.

Disposal:
The trap features a no-mess disposal system. When the green light indicates a capture:
- Ensure the trap is switched to the "OFF" position.
- Carefully pull off the trap's lid. The trap automatically deactivates when the lid is removed for safety.
- Empty the captured rodent directly into a trash receptacle without touching or seeing it.
- Replace the lid securely.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning
- After each disposal, it is recommended to wipe down the interior metal plates with a dry paper towel or cloth to remove any residue.
- Do not use water or chemical cleaners inside the trap.
- Regularly check the bait and replenish as needed to maintain effectiveness.
- Replace batteries when the red indicator light illuminates to ensure continuous operation.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Trap not activating / No green light | Batteries are dead or incorrectly installed. | Check battery polarity. Replace with fresh 4 AA batteries. |
| Rodents not entering the trap | Incorrect bait or insufficient bait. Trap placement is not optimal. | Use a high-protein bait like peanut butter. Ensure bait is placed at the very back. Relocate the trap to areas of high rodent activity, along walls. |
| Trap activates but no rodent is caught | Rodent may have escaped before shock, or sensor was triggered by non-rodent. | Ensure trap is on a stable surface. Verify bait is at the very back. The dual infrared sensors are designed to prevent false zaps, but ensure no debris or other objects are near the entrance. |
