Watch Components
Familiarize yourself with the main components of your watch:
- Crown: Used for setting time and date. It is a screw-down crown for enhanced water resistance.
- Rotating Bezel: Unidirectional bezel used for measuring elapsed time, particularly during dives.
- Hour, Minute, Second Hands: Indicate the current time.
- Date Display: Shows the current date.
- Luminous Markers: Applied to hands and hour markers for visibility in low-light conditions.

Eco-Drive Technology
Your Citizen watch is equipped with Eco-Drive technology, which converts any light source (natural or artificial) into electrical energy. This energy is stored in a power cell, eliminating the need for battery replacement. The watch will operate continuously as long as it is regularly exposed to light.
Charging Guidelines
- Regular Exposure: To maintain optimal charge, expose the watch to bright light daily.
- Full Charge: For a full charge from a completely depleted state, expose the watch to direct sunlight for approximately 11 hours or to a fluorescent lamp (30W, 20cm distance) for about 50 hours.
- Low Power Warning: If the watch runs low on power, the second hand will move in 2-second intervals. This indicates that the watch requires charging.
- Power Save Function: If left in darkness for an extended period, the hands will stop to conserve power. Upon exposure to light, the hands will automatically advance to the correct time.

Initial Setup
Setting the Time and Date
- Unscrew the Crown: Rotate the crown counter-clockwise until it is released from its locked position.
- Pull to Position 2 (Time Setting): Gently pull the crown out to the second click position. The second hand will stop.
- Set the Time: Rotate the crown to move the hour and minute hands. Advance the hands past 12 o'clock to determine if it is AM or PM for correct date change.
- Push to Position 1 (Date Setting): Push the crown in one click to the first click position.
- Set the Date: Rotate the crown to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM, as this may interfere with the date change mechanism.
- Push to Position 0 (Normal Position): Push the crown back in completely.
- Screw Down the Crown: Rotate the crown clockwise while gently pushing it in until it is securely tightened against the watch case. This ensures water resistance.

Operating the Watch
Using the Rotating Bezel
The unidirectional rotating bezel is a tool for measuring elapsed time, commonly used in diving to track dive time or decompression stops. It rotates only counter-clockwise to prevent accidental increases in elapsed time, which could lead to critical safety errors during a dive.
- Align the Bezel: Before a dive or timing event, rotate the bezel so that the '0' marker (or triangle) aligns with the minute hand.
- Measure Elapsed Time: As time passes, the minute hand will move, indicating the elapsed time against the bezel's scale. For example, if the minute hand points to '10' on the bezel, 10 minutes have passed.
Water Resistance
This watch is ISO certified for 200 meters (20 BAR) water resistance, making it suitable for professional marine activity and serious surface water sports, but not for saturation diving. Always ensure the crown is securely screwed down before exposing the watch to water.
Care and Maintenance
Cleaning
- Wipe the watch case and crystal with a soft, dry cloth.
- For the rubber strap, use a mild soap solution and rinse thoroughly with fresh water, then dry completely.
- After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch with fresh water and dry it completely to prevent corrosion.
Storage
When storing the watch for extended periods, ensure it is exposed to light periodically to maintain its charge. Avoid storing it in extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged durations, which can affect the strap material.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Watch is not running or second hand moves in 2-second intervals. | Insufficient charge. | Expose the watch to bright light for an extended period to charge the power cell. Refer to 'Charging Guidelines'. |
| Time or date is incorrect. | Time/date not set correctly or watch has been in power save mode. | Refer to 'Setting the Time and Date' section to reset. Ensure the watch is fully charged. |
| Water inside the watch or fogging. | Crown not securely screwed down or watch exposed to extreme temperature changes. | Immediately contact an authorized Citizen service center. Do not attempt to open the watch yourself. |
