Setup

Connecting the Audio Interface

The Moukey MSc1 is a plug-and-play device, requiring no special driver installation for most modern operating systems.

  1. Connect the supplied USB 3.0 cable from the USB-C port on the rear of the MSc1 to an available USB port on your computer, smartphone, or tablet.
  2. The device will power on automatically, indicated by the POWER LED on the front panel.
  3. For computers, verify successful connection by checking your device manager (Windows) or system information (Mac) for "USB AUDIO Device". No pop-up prompt will appear upon connection.
  4. If using a smartphone or tablet for live broadcasting, connect a 3.5mm conversion cable (not included) from the REC OUT port on the rear of the MSc1 to your device's audio input.

Monitoring Audio

Recording with a Computer

The Moukey MSc1 is compatible with most common Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software on Mac OS X and Windows 7 or higher.

  1. After connecting the MSc1 to your computer, open your preferred DAW software.
  2. In your DAW's audio settings, select "USB AUDIO Device" (or similar) as your input and output device.
  3. Create a new audio track and arm it for recording.
  4. Adjust input gain on the MSc1 and monitor levels in your DAW to ensure a healthy signal without clipping.

Live Broadcasting with Smartphone/Tablet

The MSc1 can be used for live broadcasting on compatible mobile devices.

  1. Connect your smartphone or tablet to the MSc1 via the USB 3.0 port.
  2. Connect a 3.5mm conversion cable (not included) from the REC OUT port on the MSc1 to your mobile device's audio input.
  3. Open your live broadcasting application. The MSc1 should be recognized as an external audio input.
  4. Adjust input levels on the MSc1 and within your broadcasting app as needed.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No power/device not recognized by computer.Loose USB connection, faulty USB port, insufficient power from USB port.Ensure USB cable is securely connected. Try a different USB port or cable. Restart your computer. Check device manager for "USB AUDIO Device".
No sound output from headphones/monitors.Volume knobs turned down, incorrect output selected in software, incorrect cable connection.Increase PHONES Level and OUTPUT knobs. Verify "USB AUDIO Device" is selected as output in your DAW/system settings. Check RCA/headphone cable connections.
No input signal/microphone not working.Incorrect input selected, gain too low, +48V phantom power not enabled for condenser mic, faulty microphone/cable.Ensure correct input is selected in your DAW. Increase INPUT 1/GAIN. Enable +48V for condenser mics. Test with a different microphone or cable.
High-pitched whistling/noise in recording.Ground loop, interference, incorrect gain staging, faulty cable.Ensure all equipment is properly grounded. Try different cables. Adjust gain levels to avoid clipping. Move device away from other electronics.
Direct monitoring cannot be disabled.This is a hardware feature.To avoid hearing the direct input signal, turn the PHONES level knob to its lowest setting. Software monitoring can still be used.
