Setup

Follow these steps to prepare your Trouble game for play:

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all game components from the box.
  2. Attach Rubber Feet: If not already attached, place the 4 rubber feet on the underside of the gameboard to prevent it from sliding during play.
  3. Place Pawns: Each player selects a color and places their 4 pawns in their designated 'HOME' area on the gameboard.
  4. Assemble Shield: Insert the cardboard shield into its plastic stand and place it near the gameboard for easy access.
  5. Determine First Player: The youngest player typically goes first, or players can roll the dice to see who gets the highest number.

How to Play

The objective of the Trouble game is to be the first player to move all four of your pawns from your 'HOME' area, around the game track, and into your 'FINISH' zone.

Game Flow

  1. Starting the Game: To move a pawn from your 'HOME' area to the 'START' space, you must roll a 6 on the number die. If you roll a 6, you move one pawn to 'START' and then roll again.
  2. Moving Pawns: On your turn, press the Pop-O-Matic bubble to roll both the number die and the symbol die. Move any one of your pawns forward the number of spaces indicated on the number die.
  3. The Symbol Die: This version includes a special symbol die. If you roll the 'Shield' symbol, your pawn is protected from being bumped back to 'HOME' if another player lands on your space. This protection lasts until your next turn. Other symbols on the die may grant additional moves or special actions as described in the full rulebook.
  4. Bumping Opponents: If your pawn lands on a space occupied by an opponent's pawn (and they do not have shield protection), the opponent's pawn is sent back to their 'HOME' area.
  5. Entering the Finish Zone: Once your pawn has completed a full circuit around the board, it can enter your 'FINISH' zone. You must roll the exact number needed to move your pawn into an empty space in your 'FINISH' zone.
  6. Winning the Game: The first player to successfully move all four of their pawns into their 'FINISH' zone wins the game!

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and enjoyment of your Hasbro Gaming Trouble Board Game, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the gameboard and plastic pawns with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth can be used, but avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Ensure all parts are completely dry before storing.
  • Storage: Store all game components in their original box in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. This prevents warping of the board and fading of colors.
  • Handling: Handle the Pop-O-Matic bubble gently to avoid damage. Ensure pawns are not forced into spaces, as this could cause wear or breakage.
  • Small Parts Warning: This game contains small parts (pawns, dice) which may pose a choking hazard. Keep all components out of reach of children under 3 years of age.

Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter:

  • Dice Not Rolling Properly: Ensure the Pop-O-Matic bubble is pressed firmly and quickly. If the dice still do not roll, check for any debris inside the bubble.
  • Missing Pieces: In the event of missing pawns or the shield, please contact Hasbro customer support for assistance.
  • Board Warping: If the gameboard appears warped, ensure it is stored flat and away from heat sources or moisture. Gentle pressure over time in a flat, cool environment may help.
