2. Product Features
- Jack Base Function: A unique jack base is integrated into the center of the traction board for emergency lifting, compatible with most off-road jacks. This provides a stable surface for lifting your vehicle in soft or uneven terrain.
- Ultra Flexibility: The interlocked diamond array design offers significant flexibility, allowing the recovery track to bend up to 120° without fracturing. Each pair can withstand vehicle weights of up to 10 tons.
- Improved Formula Material: Constructed from upgraded automotive-grade polypropylene, these traction mats are flexible, lightweight, durable, and easy to clean. They are designed to operate effectively in extreme temperatures ranging from -30°C (-22°F) to 60°C (140°F).
- Double Capabilities: Both sides of the traction recovery board feature the same diamond array construction, significantly increasing friction and allowing either side to be used for vehicle recovery.
- Strengthened Teeth: Cross-shaped teeth are strategically positioned to grip tires and prevent slippage. These teeth are designed to resist melting even with significant wheel spin. The diamond array construction on the bottom ensures the board firmly sinks into the ground for a stable recovery base.
- Contour Ramp Design: The ramps are contoured to fit most tire profiles, facilitating easier placement under the tire and smooth drive-up. The boards can also be utilized as shovels for clearing debris.
- User-Friendly Design: Ergonomic handles provide comfort during use, including when using the board as a shovel. Ten keyholes allow for convenient mounting options, and the boards can be nested and stacked to save space during transport.
- Bonus Carry Bag and Leash: A sturdy carry bag is included for convenient storage and transport. Nylon leashes are provided to assist in retrieving the traction boards if they become buried during recovery.

3. Setup and Storage
3.1 Initial Inspection
Upon receiving your BUNKER INDUST traction boards, inspect them for any signs of damage. Ensure all components, including the boards, carry bag, and leashes, are present.
3.2 Storage
Store the traction boards in the provided carry bag when not in use. The boards are designed to nest and stack efficiently to save space. They can be stored inside your vehicle or mounted externally using appropriate mounting hardware (not included) through the integrated keyholes.
3.3 Mounting Options
The boards feature 10 keyholes for various mounting configurations. If mounting externally on a roof rack or vehicle side, ensure they are securely fastened to prevent loss during transit. Consider using locking mechanisms for security.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 General Recovery Procedure
- Assess the Situation: Determine the best direction for vehicle recovery. Clear any large obstacles around the tires.
- Position the Boards: Wedge the contoured end of the traction board as far as possible under the drive wheels, in the direction you intend to move. Ensure the board is firmly placed against the tire tread.
- Slow and Steady: With the vehicle in a low gear (if applicable) and traction control off (if recommended by your vehicle manufacturer), slowly apply throttle. Avoid aggressive wheel spin, as this can damage the boards and reduce effectiveness. The goal is for the tire treads to engage with the board's teeth and pull the vehicle forward or backward.
- Retrieve Boards: Once the vehicle is on stable ground, retrieve the traction boards. Use the provided leashes if the boards are buried.

4.2 Using the Jack Base Function
In situations requiring vehicle lifting (e.g., changing a tire in soft terrain), position the traction board with the jack base facing upwards directly under the jack point of your vehicle. Ensure the board is on a relatively flat and stable surface. Place your off-road jack onto the integrated jack base. This provides a wider, more stable footprint for the jack, preventing it from sinking into soft ground.
4.3 Using as a Shovel
The ergonomic handles and contoured design allow the traction boards to be used as a makeshift shovel to clear sand, mud, or snow from around your tires before placing them for recovery.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
After each use, especially in mud or sand, clean the traction boards thoroughly. Rinse with water to remove dirt and debris. A brush can be used to dislodge stubborn material from the traction teeth. Ensure the boards are dry before storing to prevent odor or mildew in the carry bag.
5.2 Inspection
Regularly inspect the boards for any signs of wear, cracks, or damage to the traction teeth. While designed for durability, extreme conditions or improper use can cause wear. Replace boards if significant damage is observed to ensure optimal performance and safety.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Vehicle Not Moving
- Ensure the boards are wedged firmly under the drive wheels.
- Verify that the vehicle's tires are making good contact with the board's traction teeth.
- Avoid excessive wheel spin. If tires are spinning rapidly on the boards without movement, reposition the boards or clear more debris.
- Consider using two boards per drive wheel for increased traction in extremely difficult conditions.
6.2 Boards Getting Buried
- This can occur in very soft sand or deep mud. Use the provided leashes to retrieve the boards.
- Ensure the boards are placed as far under the tire as possible to maximize the initial grip.
- If possible, clear some of the soft material before placing the boards.
