4. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of your MPPT Pro Duo controller. It is highly recommended to have the device installed by a qualified technician.

4.1 Mounting Location

Follow the wiring sequence below to prevent damage to the controller or batteries. Always connect and disconnect in the specified order.

  1. Connect Battery 1: Connect the positive and negative terminals of Battery 1 (house battery) to the corresponding BATT1 terminals on the controller. Ensure correct polarity.
  2. Connect Battery 2: Connect the positive and negative terminals of Battery 2 (starter battery) to the corresponding BATT2 terminals on the controller. Ensure correct polarity.
  3. Connect Solar Panels: Connect the positive and negative leads from your solar panel array to the PV terminals on the controller. Ensure correct polarity and that the open-circuit voltage (Voc) of your solar array does not exceed 100V.
  4. Connect Temperature Sensor: If using an external temperature sensor, connect it to the designated port. The controller also has an integrated sensor.
  5. Grounding: Connect the grounding terminal of the controller to an earth ground.

Important: Always connect batteries first, then solar panels. Disconnect in the reverse order: solar panels first, then batteries.

4.3 Battery Type Setting

After connecting the batteries, you must set the correct battery type for Battery 1 using the SET button on the front panel. Battery 2 is fixed to Lead-Acid type.

5. Operating Instructions

Once installed and configured, the MPPT Pro Duo will automatically begin charging your batteries. Monitor the LED indicators for operational status.
