1. Product Overview
The Daiwa Ninja BR LT 5000-C is a versatile free spool fishing reel designed for various angling techniques, including carp and predator fishing. It incorporates Daiwa's LT (Light & Tough) concept, offering a compact yet robust design. Key features include a smooth ATD drag system, a long-distance ABS spool for improved casting, and a finely adjustable free spool function.
This reel is engineered for reliable performance, featuring a single ball bearing for smooth operation, a 5.2:1 gear ratio, and a maximum braking force of 12 kg. The Cross Wrap line lay system ensures optimal line management, reducing tangles and improving casting efficiency.

2. Setup
- Attaching to Fishing Rod: Securely mount the reel onto the reel seat of your fishing rod. Ensure the reel foot is firmly seated and the locking mechanism is tightened to prevent movement during use.
- Spooling Fishing Line:
- Open the bail arm.
- Tie the fishing line to the spool using an appropriate knot (e.g., arbor knot).
- Close the bail arm.
- Maintain slight tension on the line as you slowly turn the reel handle to evenly wind the line onto the spool. Fill the spool to approximately 1-2mm from the edge to prevent tangles and optimize casting distance.
- Drag Adjustment: The front drag system can be adjusted by turning the drag knob on the front of the spool. Turn clockwise to increase drag tension and counter-clockwise to decrease it. Adjust the drag according to the breaking strain of your line and the target fish species.
- Free Spool Adjustment: The free spool system is located at the rear of the reel. Engage the free spool lever to activate it. The tension of the free spool can be finely adjusted using the knob on the rear of the reel. This allows fish to take line without resistance until the main drag is engaged by turning the handle.

3. Operating Instructions
- Casting:
- Hold the rod and reel comfortably.
- Open the bail arm.
- Hold the line against the rod with your index finger.
- Execute your cast. Release the line from your finger at the appropriate moment to propel the lure or bait.
- As the lure or bait approaches the water, close the bail arm manually or by turning the handle to prepare for retrieve.
- Retrieving: Turn the reel handle clockwise to retrieve the line. The Cross Wrap system will ensure even line lay on the spool.
- Using the Free Spool System:
- After casting, engage the free spool lever. This allows the line to run freely from the spool with minimal resistance, ideal for waiting for bites from shy fish.
- When a fish takes the bait, simply turn the reel handle to disengage the free spool and engage the main drag system, allowing you to fight the fish.
- Anti-Reverse: The Infinite Anti-Reverse system prevents the rotor from turning backward, ensuring solid hook sets and control during a fight.

4. Maintenance
- Cleaning: After each use, especially in saltwater environments, rinse the reel with fresh water. Use a soft cloth to wipe away any dirt, salt, or debris. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of high-quality reel oil to moving parts such as the handle knob, bail arm pivot, and line roller. Use reel grease for gears if performing a deeper service. Refer to a professional if unsure.
- Storage: Store the reel in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Consider using a reel cover or case to protect it from dust and physical damage.
- Line Inspection: Regularly inspect your fishing line for fraying, nicks, or wear. Replace the line as needed to prevent breakages.

5. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Line tangles or loops on spool | Overfilling the spool, incorrect line lay, line twist. | Reduce line amount, check line lay, remove line twist by trailing line behind a boat or in a current without a lure. |
| Drag feels sticky or inconsistent | Dirt or debris in drag washers, dry drag washers. | Clean drag washers. If comfortable, apply a thin layer of drag grease (consult a professional if unsure). |
| Handle difficult to turn or feels rough | Lack of lubrication, internal debris, damaged gears. | Lubricate moving parts. If problem persists, professional service may be required. |
| Bail arm does not close properly | Debris in bail mechanism, bent bail arm. | Inspect and clean the bail mechanism. If bent, seek professional repair. |
