Controls and Indicators:

Setup

1. Charging the Speaker

Before first use, fully charge the speaker. The built-in lithium-ion battery provides up to 8 hours of playback on a full charge, with a charging time of approximately 3.5 hours.

  1. Connect the supplied USB-C cable to the speaker's USB-C port.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB-C cable to a compatible USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port.
  3. The charging indicator on the display will show the charging status. It will turn off or change color when fully charged.

2. Power On/Off

  • To turn on: Press and hold the Power button until the display illuminates.
  • To turn off: Press and hold the Power button until the display turns off.

Operating Instructions

1. Bluetooth Mode

  1. Turn on the speaker. Press the Mode button until "Bluetooth" appears on the display. The speaker will enter pairing mode, indicated by a flashing Bluetooth icon.
  2. On your smartphone or other Bluetooth device, enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  3. Select "Grundig GBT Band 5" from the list. Once paired, the Bluetooth icon on the speaker's display will stop flashing.
  4. You can now play audio from your device through the speaker. Use the Play/Pause and Volume buttons on the speaker or your connected device to control playback.

The speaker maintains a Bluetooth range of up to 30 meters in open environments.

2. DAB+ Radio Mode

  1. Extend the telescopic antenna for optimal reception.
  2. Press the Mode button until "DAB+" appears on the display.
  3. The speaker will automatically scan for available DAB+ stations. If it's the first time, a full scan will be performed.
  4. Use the Previous/Next buttons to navigate through the available stations.
  5. To save a station as a preset: Tune to the desired station, then press and hold one of the Preset (1-5) buttons until the display confirms it's saved. To recall a preset, simply press the corresponding preset button.

3. FM Radio Mode

  1. Extend the telescopic antenna.
  2. Press the Mode button until "FM" appears on the display.
  3. Press the Scan button to automatically search for and save available FM stations.
  4. Alternatively, use the Previous/Next buttons to manually tune to frequencies.
  5. Saving and recalling presets works the same as in DAB+ mode.

4. Auxiliary Input (AUX)

  1. Connect a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) from your external audio device's headphone jack to the speaker's AUX input port.
  2. Press the Mode button until "AUX" appears on the display.
  3. Play audio from your external device. Volume can be controlled via the speaker or the connected device.

5. Display Brightness

The LCD display features adjustable brightness. Refer to the quick start guide for specific button combinations to adjust brightness, typically involving a short press of the Info or Mode button while in standby or operation.

Maintenance

Cleaning

  • Always turn off the speaker and disconnect it from the power source before cleaning.
  • Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, alcohol, or solvents.
  • Ensure no moisture enters the ports.

Storage

  • Store the speaker in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • If storing for an extended period, charge the battery periodically (e.g., every 3-6 months) to maintain battery health.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Speaker does not turn on. Battery is depleted. Charge the speaker using the provided USB-C cable.
No sound in Bluetooth mode. Not paired, volume too low, or incorrect source. Ensure speaker is paired and connected. Increase volume on both speaker and source device. Check if Bluetooth mode is selected.
Poor radio reception (DAB+/FM). Antenna not extended, weak signal, or interference. Fully extend the telescopic antenna. Reposition the speaker for better signal. Perform a new station scan.
Speaker freezes or becomes unresponsive. Software glitch. Press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds to force a restart. If issue persists, allow battery to fully discharge and then recharge.
