4.2 Threading the Machine
Proper threading is crucial for smooth operation and consistent stitches.
- Upper Thread: Place a spool of thread on the spool pin. Guide the thread through the tension dial and then through the various thread guides, ensuring it passes through the needle eye from left to right.
- Bobbin: Open the bobbin cover. Insert a wound bobbin into the bobbin case, ensuring the thread unwinds in the correct direction (usually counter-clockwise). Pull the bobbin thread through the small slot in the bobbin case.

4.3 Installing the Needle
Ensure the machine is unplugged before changing the needle.
- Loosen the needle clamp screw.

5.2 Adjusting Thread Tension
The thread tension dial controls the balance between the upper and lower threads. If stitches are too loose or too tight, adjust the dial incrementally. A balanced stitch will look the same on both sides of the fabric.
5.3 Using the Foot Pedal
Connect the foot pedal to the foot pedal jack. The foot pedal allows for variable speed control based on pressure, providing more precise control over your sewing. Ensure the hand switch is in the 'off' position when using the foot pedal.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
Regular cleaning helps maintain your machine's performance. Use a soft brush to remove lint and dust from the bobbin area and around the feed dogs. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
6.2 Needle Replacement
Replace the needle regularly, especially if it becomes bent, dull, or if you notice skipped stitches. Always use needles appropriate for your fabric type.
6.3 General Care
Store the machine in a dry, dust-free environment. When not in use, cover it to prevent dust accumulation. Do not force the machine if it jams; investigate the cause before resuming operation.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Thread breaks frequently | Incorrect threading, tension too high, dull/bent needle, poor quality thread. | Re-thread the machine, adjust tension, replace needle, use good quality thread. |
| Skipped stitches | Bent needle, incorrect needle installation, improper threading. | Replace needle, ensure needle is installed correctly (flat side to back), re-thread. |
| Loose stitches (top or bottom) | Incorrect thread tension, bobbin incorrectly inserted. | Adjust thread tension dial, re-insert bobbin correctly. |
| Machine not sewing | Not plugged in, power switch off, foot pedal not connected/pressed. | Check power connection, turn on switch, ensure foot pedal is connected and pressed. |
