Safety Precautions
Before starting any plumbing project, ensure the home's main water supply is shut off. If you are unsure of the main shut-off location, contact your local water company for assistance. After shutting off the main water supply, turn on a faucet at the lowest point in the home to drain the water lines.
Access Panel
For remodel projects, locate the plumbing access panel, typically behind the valve. If no access panel exists, an opening will need to be created.
Installation
Valve Placement
The center of the shower valve should be positioned 45-48 inches from the shower floor. The 'UP' symbol on the valve must be facing upwards during installation.

Determining Wall Thickness
Measure the wall thickness to determine if it is a thick wall (more than 1/4 inch) or a thin wall (less than 1/4 inch). This affects the trim installation.
Integrated Transfer Valve Setup
The M-CORE valve supports two or three showering devices. If installing three devices, remove the cartridge nut from the transfer valve and pull out the old cartridge. Then, remove the dust cover, clip, and limiter from the cartridge. Reinstall the cartridge and nut, hand-tightening and then snugging with a wrench.
If installing two showering devices, do not remove the limiter and clip from the cartridge. Cap the unused outlet (marked '3' on the valve). Attach the primary shower device plumbing to outlet '1' and the secondary device plumbing to outlet '2'.

Attaching the Valve to Existing PEX Tubing
Once the valve is in the proper position, measure the distance from the cold and hot water inlet elbows to the valve opening. Cut appropriate lengths of 1/2-inch PEX tubing. Slide a 1/2-inch crimp ring onto each end of the new hot and cold tubes. Attach each tube to its respective water supply line. Then, attach the valve to the new hot and cold inlets. Crimp each end of the PEX connections. Secure both valves to the cross members from the front of the wall for added support using the integrated mounting bracket.

Flushing the System and Checking for Leaks
M-CORE valves come pre-installed with a flush plug. Turn on the main water supply and let the water run from the shower outlets for 15 seconds to remove any debris. Pressurize the system and check for any leaks. Then, turn the water off.
Installing the M-CORE 3-Series Cartridge
First, remove the flush plug nut and pull out the flush plug by hand. Push the adapter and pressure balance plug out of the installation sleeve. Rotate the adapter 180 degrees and reattach it to the puck. Reinstall the pressure balancing puck assembly into the provided installation sleeve. Align the tab on the check adapter with the hole inside the valve body. Using the provided installation sleeve, install the adapter and pressure balancing puck assembly. Thread on the cartridge nut included with the trim kit, hand-tighten, then snug with a wrench.

Installing and Setting Adjustable Temperature Limit Stop
The M-CORE valve includes an adjustable temperature limit stop to meet applicable temperature code requirements. To test the temperature, hold the lever handle in the 6 o'clock position, then lift and turn the handle clockwise until it stops. Turn on the water supply. If the desired water temperature has been met, no further adjustments are needed. If the water temperature exceeds 120 degrees Fahrenheit, you must reset the temperature limit stop. To reset, turn the handle to lower the water temperature to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Close the water and remove the handle. Remove the temperature limit stop ring, located on the outer rim of the cartridge stem. Turn the limit stop ring clockwise until the tab on the ring lines up with the corresponding tab on the cartridge. Reinsert the limit stop at the desired hot position.
Installing 3-Series Trim
Install the decorative sleeve onto the mixing control valve. Using the four included screws, attach the mounting plate and snap ring to the valve. Once the snap ring is centered on the sleeve, secure it to the valve using the four included screws. Remove the dust cover. Snap the escutcheon plate onto the mounting plate. Using the included screw, attach the top of the escutcheon to the mounting plate. To add the transfer valve handle, ensure the notch on the cartridge stem is facing down. Slide the adapter into the handle and start the set screw. Install it onto the cartridge stem with the handle pointing down. Finish by tightening the set screw. To add the mixing valve handle, start the set screw, then place the handle on the cartridge stem. Finish tightening the set screw.
