4. Controls and Display

The VL196 features an OLED screen and intuitive controls for easy operation.

• Power Button: Press and hold to turn the light ON/OFF.
• Mode Selection Button: Short press to cycle through CCT, RGB, and Scene modes.
• Rocker Switch: Used to navigate menus and adjust values (e.g., color temperature, hue, saturation, brightness).
• Dial: Primarily controls brightness in CCT and RGB modes, and intensity in Scene modes.
• OLED Screen: Displays current mode, color temperature (K), hue (degrees), saturation (%), brightness (%), and battery level.

5. Setup

To attach the VL196 to a camera, tripod, or other accessories:

1. Locate the 1/4"-20 screw hole on the bottom of the VL196 light.
2. Attach the universal base (cold shoe mount) to the 1/4"-20 screw hole by rotating it clockwise until secure.
3. Slide the cold shoe mount into your camera's hot shoe or a compatible accessory. Tighten the locking wheel on the universal base to secure it.
4. Adjust the angle of the light as needed using the universal base.

6. Operating Modes

The VL196 offers three main operating modes: CCT, RGB, and Scene Effects.

6.1 CCT Mode (Color Temperature)

• In CCT mode, use the rocker switch to adjust the color temperature from 2500K to 9000K.
• Use the dial to adjust the brightness from 0% to 100%.

6.2 RGB Mode (Hue, Saturation, Brightness)

• In RGB mode, use the rocker switch to adjust the hue (color) from 0° to 360°.
• Use the dial to adjust the brightness from 0% to 100%.
• Further adjustments for saturation may be available depending on the firmware version.

6.3 Scene Effects Mode

The VL196 includes 20 pre-programmed lighting effects:

7. Charging and Battery

The VL196 has a built-in 3.7V 5000mAh rechargeable lithium battery.

• Charging Port: Use the provided USB Type-C cable to charge the device.
• Fast Charging: The light supports PD fast charging, allowing it to be fully charged in approximately 2 hours.
• Battery Life: Provides up to 130 minutes of continuous operation at 100% brightness. Battery life extends significantly at lower brightness settings.

8. Accessories

If experiencing this, ensure the accessory's screw is fully engaged. For optimal stability, consider adding a thin rubber washer between the light and the accessory to create a tighter fit.
