Cutting Techniques:

For best results and safety, use proper cutting techniques.

Figure 5.2: A user trimming the side of a taller hedge, holding the hedge trimmer vertically. This illustrates the versatility of the tool for different hedge shapes and sizes.

• Horizontal Cutting: For the top of hedges, hold the trimmer horizontally and sweep across the top in smooth, even strokes.
• Vertical Cutting: For the sides of hedges, hold the trimmer vertically and sweep upwards or downwards, maintaining a slight angle for a clean finish.
• Avoid Overloading: Do not force the trimmer through thick branches. If the blade slows down, reduce the cutting load.
• Clean Cuts: Use the full length of the blade for efficient cutting.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your hedge trimmer.

• Blade Cleaning: After each use, disconnect the battery and carefully clean the blades with a stiff brush to remove sap and debris.
• Blade Lubrication: Apply a light machine oil or blade lubricant to the blades after cleaning to prevent rust and ensure smooth operation.
• Battery Care: Store the battery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not store fully discharged. Charge it periodically if not used for extended periods.
• Tool Cleaning: Wipe down the exterior of the tool with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
• Storage: Always attach the blade sheath before storing the hedge trimmer. Store in a dry, secure location out of reach of children.
