3. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your Mxtech YHD-1100L 1D Barcode Scanner:

  1. Connect the Scanner: Identify the appropriate port on your computer or host device. The scanner supports USB, RS232, PS2, and TTL interfaces. For most common setups, connect the USB cable from the scanner directly to an available USB port on your desktop or laptop computer.
  2. Driver Installation (if necessary): In most modern operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), the scanner will be recognized automatically as a standard HID (Human Interface Device) keyboard or serial device, and no additional drivers are required. If prompted, follow the on-screen instructions for driver installation.
  3. Test Connection: Open a text editor (e.g., Notepad, Word) or any application that accepts keyboard input. Scan a known 1D barcode. The barcode data should appear in the text editor, confirming successful setup.

4. Operating Instructions

The Mxtech YHD-1100L scanner offers two primary scanning modes:

4.1 Key-Triggered Scan Mode

  1. Hold the scanner comfortably in your hand.
  2. Point the scanning window towards the 1D barcode you wish to read.
  3. Press and hold the trigger button. A red laser line will emit from the scanning window.
  4. Align the laser line across the entire barcode. Once successfully read, the scanner will typically emit an audible beep and/or an indicator light will flash.
  5. Release the trigger button. The scanned data will be transmitted to your connected device.

4.2 Automatic Continuous Scan Mode

This mode allows the scanner to continuously emit the laser and read barcodes without needing to press the trigger for each scan. This mode is typically activated by scanning a specific configuration barcode found in a more detailed programming manual (not included in this basic guide).

  1. If configured for continuous scan, simply present the barcode within the scanning range (5-30 cm).
  2. The scanner will automatically detect and read the barcode.

Note: For advanced configuration options, such as enabling/disabling continuous scan mode, adding prefixes/suffixes, or changing interface settings, please refer to the comprehensive programming manual provided by the manufacturer.

5. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your barcode scanner.

  • Cleaning the Scanning Window: Regularly clean the scanning window with a soft, lint-free cloth. If necessary, dampen the cloth slightly with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaning solution. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the plastic.
  • General Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the scanner with a soft, dry cloth. Do not immerse the scanner in water or any cleaning liquids.
  • Handling: Although the scanner has an IP54 protection grade and is designed to be wear-resistant and anti-fall, avoid dropping it from excessive heights or subjecting it to severe impacts.
  • Storage: Store the scanner in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
  • Cable Care: Avoid bending or twisting the cable excessively, which can lead to internal damage.
