Setup

1. Battery Installation

The Y-509 radio uses a rechargeable 18650 battery (included). It also supports a BL-5C battery (not included) as an alternative.

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Slide or open the cover.
  3. Insert the 18650 battery, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

2. Charging the Battery

Before first use, fully charge the battery.

  1. Connect the small end of the included USB charging cable to the USB charging port on the radio.
  2. Connect the larger end of the USB cable to a USB power adapter (5V, not included) or a computer's USB port.
  3. The display will typically show a charging indicator.
  4. Once fully charged, disconnect the charging cable.

Note: The radio can be used while charging, but it is recommended to charge it fully for optimal battery life.

3. Power On/Off

  • To power on, locate the power switch (usually a slide switch on the side or top) and slide it to the "ON" position. The display will light up.
  • To power off, slide the power switch to the "OFF" position.

Operating Instructions

1. FM Radio Operation

Ensure the antenna is fully extended for best reception.

  • Switch to FM Mode: If not already in FM mode, press the Mode (M) button until "FM" or the frequency is displayed.
  • Auto-Scan and Store Stations: Press and hold the Play/Pause (▶/−) button. The radio will automatically scan for available FM stations and store them in memory. This may take a few minutes.
  • Manual Tuning:
    • Use the Previous/Next Track (◀◀ / ▶▶) buttons to fine-tune the frequency step by step.
    • Alternatively, use the Numeric Keypad (0-9) to directly enter the desired FM frequency (e.g., 105.3).
  • Selecting Stored Stations: Use the Previous/Next Track (◀◀ / ▶▶) buttons to cycle through the automatically stored stations.

2. MP3 Playback (TF Card)

The device supports MP3 playback from a TF (MicroSD) card.

  1. Insert a TF card with MP3 audio files into the TF card slot. Ensure it is inserted correctly.
  2. Press the Mode (M) button to switch to MP3 playback mode. The display will show the track number or playback time.
  3. Use the Play/Pause (▶/−) button to start or pause playback.
  4. Use the Previous/Next Track (◀◀ / ▶▶) buttons to skip to the previous or next track.
  5. Use the Numeric Keypad (0-9) to directly select a track number.

3. Volume Control

Adjust the volume using the dedicated volume control (if present) or by pressing and holding the Previous/Next Track (◀◀ / ▶▶) buttons (common on some models for volume adjustment).

4. LED Flashlight

The Y-509 features a built-in LED flashlight for convenience.

  • To turn on the flashlight, locate the dedicated flashlight button or switch (often marked with a flashlight icon).
  • Press or slide the button/switch to activate the LED light.
  • Press or slide it again to turn off the flashlight.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the radio. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
