Follow these steps carefully to assemble your PowerSmart 2-in-1 String Trimmer/Edger and Brush Cutter.

3.1 Attaching the Handlebar

  1. Loosen the bolts on the handlebar clamp.
  2. Position the handlebar on the main shaft at a comfortable operating height. Ensure the throttle trigger is easily accessible.
  3. Tighten the bolts securely to prevent rotation during use.

3.2 Installing the Safety Guard

  1. Slide the safety guard onto the lower shaft, ensuring it is oriented correctly to protect from debris.
  2. Secure the guard with the provided screws or bolts. Do not overtighten.

3.3 Attaching the Trimmer Head or Brush Cutter Blade

The tool is designed for quick attachment changes between the string trimmer head and the brush cutter blade.

  1. Ensure the engine is off and the spark plug wire is disconnected before changing attachments.
  2. To attach the string trimmer head: Align the head with the shaft and secure it according to the specific mechanism (e.g., threading, locking pin).
  3. To attach the brush cutter blade: Place the blade onto the shaft, ensuring it sits correctly on the support flange. Install the outer flange, then secure with the nut, typically using a wrench to tighten. Ensure the blade rotates freely but is firmly secured.

4. Fuel Mixing Instructions

This PowerSmart tool uses a 2-cycle engine and requires a specific fuel mixture of gasoline and 2-cycle engine oil. Using incorrect fuel or mixture ratios will damage the engine and void the warranty.

Recommended Mixture Ratio: 50:1 (Gasoline to 2-Cycle Oil)

  • Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Do not use E85 gasoline.
  • Use high-quality 2-cycle engine oil specifically designed for air-cooled engines.
  • Mix the fuel in an approved fuel container, not directly in the tool's fuel tank.
  • Pour the required amount of 2-cycle oil into the fuel container first, then add the gasoline.
  • Securely close the container and shake it vigorously to ensure thorough mixing.
  • Always mix only the amount of fuel you expect to use within 30 days to ensure freshness.

Example for 50:1 Ratio:

  • 1 gallon (approx. 3.8 liters) of gasoline requires 2.6 fluid ounces (approx. 76 ml) of 2-cycle oil.
