Setup and Installation

This section details the steps for installing the inline cord switch. Ensure the appliance is unplugged from the power outlet before proceeding.

1. Prepare the Cord: Identify the location on the power cord where you wish to install the switch. Carefully slit the cord's outer insulation at this point, approximately 2-3 inches long. Separate the two insulated wires inside.
2. Cut One Wire: Choose one of the two insulated wires and cut it. This is the wire that the switch will interrupt. Do not cut both wires.
3. Strip Wire Ends: Strip about 0.25 inches (6-7mm) of insulation from the ends of the cut wire. Ensure the copper strands are clean and not frayed.
4. Open the Switch: Gently pry open the two halves of the inline cord switch. You may need a small flat-head screwdriver to carefully separate them.

5. Insert Wires: Route the uncut wire through the wire channel on one side of the switch bottom. Insert the stripped ends of the cut wire into the brass terminals inside the switch. Each stripped end should go into a separate terminal.

6. Secure Connections: Tighten the screws on the brass terminals to firmly secure the stripped wire ends. Ensure no loose strands are exposed.
7. Engage Cord Grips: Position the cord within the cord grips (strain relief) inside the switch. These grips help prevent the cord from being pulled out of the terminals.

8. Close the Switch: Carefully align the two halves of the switch and press them together until they snap securely into place. Ensure no wires are pinched.
9. Test: Plug the appliance back into the power outlet and test the switch functionality.
