2. Setup

2.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove all components from the E-Box. Verify that all listed components are present: the rotary hammer, three drill bits (Ø 8, 10, 12 mm), one pointed chisel, one flat chisel, an additional handle, and the depth stop. Inspect the tool and accessories for any signs of damage from transport. Do not use damaged equipment.

2.2 Attaching the Additional Handle

The additional handle provides better control and safety. Loosen the handle by twisting it counter-clockwise. Slide it over the chuck and position it to your preferred working angle. Tighten the handle by twisting it clockwise until it is secure.

2.3 Installing the Depth Stop

Insert the metal depth stop into the designated hole on the additional handle. Adjust its position to control the drilling depth. Ensure it is securely fastened before operation.

2.4 Inserting SDS-Plus Tools

The TE-RH 32 4F features a robust, semi-automatic SDS-plus tool holder. To insert a drill bit or chisel:

  1. Clean the shank of the SDS-plus tool.
  2. Apply a thin layer of grease to the shank (not supplied).
  3. Push the tool into the SDS-plus holder with a slight twisting motion until it locks into place.
  4. Pull on the tool to ensure it is securely seated. The SDS-plus system allows for slight axial movement, which is normal for hammer action.

To remove, pull back the locking sleeve on the chuck and pull out the tool.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Power Connection

Connect the rotary hammer to a standard 220V electrical outlet. Ensure the power cord is not damaged and is positioned to avoid tripping hazards.

3.2 Function Selection

The tool offers four functions: drilling, hammer drilling, chiseling with rotation, and chiseling without rotation. Use the function selector switch on the side of the tool to choose the desired mode. Refer to the icons on the tool for each function.

3.3 Starting and Stopping

To start the tool, press the ON/OFF trigger switch. To stop, release the trigger switch. The speed electronics allow for variable speed control by adjusting the pressure on the trigger.

3.4 Working with the Rotary Hammer

  • Drilling: For drilling in wood, metal, or plastic, select the drilling mode (without hammer action). Use appropriate drill bits.
  • Hammer Drilling: For drilling in concrete, masonry, or stone, select the hammer drilling mode. Apply steady, even pressure. The press control indicator will help maintain optimal contact.
  • Chiseling: For light demolition work, such as removing tiles or breaking small sections of concrete, select the chiseling mode. Use the pointed or flat chisel as appropriate.

3.5 Safety Features

  • Overload Clutch: In case the drill bit jams, the overload clutch will disengage the drive to protect the user and the tool from excessive torque.
  • Safety Stop: This mechanism prevents uncontrolled rotation if the tool gets stuck.

4. Maintenance

4.1 General Cleaning

After each use, clean the tool housing with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Keep the ventilation openings clear to prevent overheating.

4.2 Chuck Maintenance

Regularly clean the SDS-plus chuck and apply a small amount of grease to the moving parts to ensure smooth operation and prolong its lifespan.

4.3 Carbon Brush Replacement

The indicator lights will signal when the carbon brushes are worn and require service. This task should ideally be performed by qualified personnel or an authorized service center.

4.4 Storage

Store the rotary hammer and its accessories in the provided E-Box in a dry, secure place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
