Installation

The Waterdrop WD-RPFK filter offers multiple installation options to fit various pipe sizes and types, including PEX, CPVC, PPR, and copper pipes. Ensure you have the correct adapters for your specific plumbing system.

General Installation Steps:

  1. Shut off Main Water Supply: Turn off the main inlet valve to your home and open a nearby faucet to release pressure from the pipes.
  2. Prepare Connections: The filter head features 1" MNPT and 3/4" FNPT threads. Use the provided 1"-3/4" adapters or your own 3/4" MNPT adapters (for PEX-A Barb connections) as needed.
  3. Apply Teflon Tape: Wrap at least 10 loops of Teflon tape around the external threads of the unions on both sides of the filter head to ensure a watertight seal.
  4. Install Adapters: Install the appropriate adapters onto the filter head. Tighten securely with a wrench.
  5. Cut Pipe: Cut the appropriate length of your PEX pipe where the filter will be installed. Ensure the cut is flat and smooth. Polish with sandpaper if there are impurities.
  6. Connect Filter to Pipe: Fix the filter system onto your main water line using two 3/4 in. Stainless Steel PEX Barb Pinch Clamps (not included) or 3/4 in. Push-fit plumbing fittings. Pay close attention to the water inlet direction indicated by the arrow on the filter head. Do not install in the opposite direction.
  7. Connect Drain Tubing: Insert the drain tubing into the quick-connect threaded connector on the drain valve. Ensure the tubing is inserted in place. Lead the drain tubing to a sewage outlet or a bucket.
  8. Restore Water Supply: Slowly turn on the main inlet valve. Turn off the water outlet after the domestic water equipment can dispense water.
  9. Check for Leaks: Turn the drain valve about 10 times to discharge internal air and check for any water leakage or slow seepage at the joints. Tighten any loose connections.

Operation

The Waterdrop WD-RPFK filter operates by directing incoming water through its 50-micron stainless steel mesh, trapping sediment and impurities. Clean water then flows out to your household plumbing. The transparent filter housing allows for visual inspection of the filter mesh, so you can easily monitor the accumulation of trapped particles.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance of your Waterdrop WD-RPFK filter is crucial to ensure optimal performance and extend the lifespan of your entire water filtration system. The filter features a convenient backwash function for easy cleaning.

Backwash Cleaning Procedure:

  1. Turn on Flushing Port: Rotate the drain valve 90 degrees to activate the backwash function. This reverses the water flow within the filter, dislodging trapped sediments.
  2. Flush Thoroughly: Allow water to flush through the drain for approximately 10 minutes, or until the water runs clear.
  3. Close Drain Valve: Turn off the drain valve to resume normal filtration.

It is recommended to perform a backwash flush every 15-30 days, or more frequently if you observe significant sediment buildup or reduced water pressure. For deeper cleaning, the filter mesh can be removed and cleaned with a soft-bristled brush under running water every 3-6 months.
