Care and Maintenance
Waterproofing
The HERO8 Black is waterproof down to 10 meters (33 feet) without an additional housing. Ensure the side door is fully closed and latched before exposing the camera to water. After use in saltwater, rinse the camera with fresh water and dry thoroughly.
Lens and Screen Care
To maintain optimal image quality, keep the camera lens clean and free of smudges. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe the lens. For added protection, consider applying a tempered glass screen protector to the front and rear displays, especially if using the camera in rugged environments.
Troubleshooting
- Short Battery Life: High-resolution video recording (e.g., 4K) and continuous live streaming consume battery quickly. Consider carrying spare batteries or using an external power bank for extended use.
- Overheating: Prolonged recording in high resolutions or warm environments can cause the camera to overheat. If this occurs, the camera may shut down automatically. Allow it to cool down before resuming use.
- Connectivity Issues: If experiencing problems connecting to the GoPro app, ensure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled on both devices. Try restarting both the camera and your mobile device.
- Screen Cracks: While the lens is impact-resistant, the screens can still be vulnerable. Applying a tempered glass screen protector is highly recommended to prevent cracks from drops or impacts.
