1. Introduction

4. Setup

4.1 Charging the Printer

Before first use, fully charge the printer. Connect the Micro USB Charging Cable to the printer's charging port and a compatible USB power adapter (not included). The Charging Indicator Light will show the charging status.

4.2 Loading ZINK Photo Paper

The KODAK Step Printer uses ZINK (Zero Ink) 2x3 inch photo paper. No ink cartridges are required.

  1. Gently slide off the top cover of the printer.
  2. Insert the stack of ZINK photo paper into the paper tray. Ensure the blue calibration card is at the bottom of the stack, facing down. The glossy side of the photo paper should face upwards.
  3. Replace the top cover, ensuring it clicks securely into place.

4.3 Downloading the KODAK STEP Prints App

To operate the printer, download the official KODAK STEP Prints app from your device's app store (iOS or Android). The app allows you to select, edit, and print photos.

4.4 Pairing via Bluetooth

  1. Turn on your KODAK Step Printer by pressing and holding the Power Button until the Status Indicator light illuminates.
  2. Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone or tablet.
  3. Open the KODAK STEP Prints app. The app will guide you through the pairing process. Select "KODAK STEP" from the list of available devices.
  4. Once paired, the Status Indicator light on the printer may change to indicate a successful connection.

5. Operating the Printer

5.1 Printing Photos

  1. Ensure your printer is charged, loaded with paper, and connected via Bluetooth to the KODAK STEP Prints app.
  2. In the app, select the photo you wish to print from your device's gallery.
  3. Use the app's editing tools to adjust the photo as desired (see section 5.2).
  4. Confirm the print preview and select the number of copies.
  5. Tap the "Print" button in the app. The photo will begin printing from the Photo Print Slot.

5.2 Using the Editing App

The KODAK STEP Prints app offers various features to enhance your photos before printing:

  • Filters: Apply different visual effects to your photos.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Printer

To maintain optimal print quality, occasionally clean the printer's rollers. Use the blue calibration card included with your ZINK paper. Follow these steps:

  1. Ensure the printer is turned off.
  2. Gently slide off the top cover.
  3. Remove any remaining photo paper.
  4. Insert the blue calibration card into the paper tray, with the barcode facing down.
  5. Replace the top cover and turn on the printer.
  6. Initiate a print command from the app (e.g., print a blank image). The printer will run the calibration card through, cleaning the rollers.

Note: If print quality issues persist, repeat the cleaning process or consult the troubleshooting section.

6.2 Replacing Photo Paper

When the printer runs out of paper, the Status Indicator may signal this. Follow the steps in section 4.2 to load a new pack of KODAK ZINK Photo Paper.

7. Troubleshooting
