1. Introduction

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

To install the battery:

  1. Remove the battery cover from the back of the walkie talkie.
  2. Align the 1000mAh Li-ion battery with the contacts inside the compartment.
  3. Gently press the battery into place until it clicks.
  4. Replace the battery cover, ensuring it is securely fastened.

4.2 Charging the Battery

Before first use, fully charge the battery. The walkie talkie features a mini USB interface for convenient charging.

  1. Connect the provided USB cable to the mini USB port on the walkie talkie.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the USB adapter, a power bank, car charger, or computer USB port.
  3. The charging indicator light will illuminate (typically red) during charging and change color (typically green) when fully charged.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

Press and hold the Power button (usually marked with a circle and a vertical line) located on the front of the radio to turn it on or off. A voice prompt will indicate the power status.

5.2 Channel Selection

Use the CH+ and CH- buttons to select your desired channel (1-16). The radio will announce the selected channel number.

5.3 Adjusting Volume

Use the Volume+ and Volume- buttons located on the side of the radio to adjust the listening volume.

5.4 Push-to-Talk (PTT)

To transmit, press and hold the PTT button on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button to listen.

5.5 VOX Function (Hands-Free)

The VOX function allows you to transmit without manually pressing the PTT button. This feature requires computer settings for initial activation. Once activated, it can be toggled on or off using a hotkey combination.

5.6 Keypad Lock

To prevent accidental channel changes or button presses, you can lock the keypad. This function is typically activated by pressing and holding specific buttons simultaneously. The same action will unlock the keypad.

5.7 Changing Language

The Retevis RT15 supports multiple language voice prompts. To change the language, turn the radio off. Then, turn to channel 16, press and hold the CH+ button and the Power button simultaneously while turning the walkie talkie back on. This sequence allows you to cycle through available languages.
