2.2 Setting the Time and Date
The crown is located on the right side of the watch case. It has three positions:
- Position 0 (Normal Position): The crown is pushed in completely. The watch will operate normally.
- Position 1 (First Click): Pull the crown out one click. In this position, you can set the day and date.
- Position 2 (Second Click): Pull the crown out two clicks. In this position, you can set the time.
To Set the Date and Day:
- Pull the crown out to Position 1.
- Rotate the crown clockwise to adjust the date.
- Rotate the crown counter-clockwise to adjust the day.
- Avoid setting the date and day between 9:00 PM and 4:00 AM, as this can interfere with the automatic date change mechanism.
- Once set, push the crown back to Position 0.
To Set the Time:
- Pull the crown out to Position 2. The second hand will stop.
- Rotate the crown to move the hour and minute hands. Advance the hands past 12 o'clock to ensure the AM/PM is correctly set for the date change.
- Once the correct time is set, push the crown back to Position 0. The second hand will resume movement.

2.3 Bracelet Adjustment
The stainless steel bracelet is designed for a secure and comfortable fit. If adjustment is needed to remove or add links, it is recommended to visit a qualified jeweler or watchmaker. The clasp features a push-button foldover with safety for added security.
3. Operating Your Watch
3.1 Automatic Movement
Your Seiko 5 Sports watch is powered by an automatic mechanical movement. This means it does not require a battery. The mainspring is wound by the natural motion of your wrist while wearing the watch. When fully wound, the watch typically has a power reserve of approximately 41 hours.
If the watch stops or runs low on power, you can manually wind it by rotating the crown in Position 0 (normal position) clockwise for about 30-40 turns. This will provide enough power to start the watch and allow the automatic winding mechanism to take over once worn.
3.2 Day and Date Display
The watch features a day and date display at the 3 o'clock position. The day and date will automatically change around midnight. If the watch has been stopped for an extended period, you may need to manually adjust the day and date as described in Section 2.2.
4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning
To maintain the appearance of your watch, wipe the case and bracelet regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For stainless steel, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these can damage the finish.
4.2 Water Resistance (10 BAR / 100 Meters)
Your watch is water resistant to 10 BAR (100 meters). This rating means it is suitable for frequent swimming and snorkeling. However, it is not suitable for scuba diving or high-impact water sports. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water.
- Do not operate the crown or pushers (if any) while the watch is wet or submerged.
- After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch with fresh water and dry it thoroughly with a soft cloth.
- Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperature changes, such as moving from a hot sauna directly into cold water, as this can compromise the water resistance seals.
4.3 Periodic Inspection
It is recommended to have your watch inspected by an authorized Seiko service center every 2-3 years to check the water resistance seals and the overall condition of the movement. This helps ensure optimal performance and longevity.
5. Troubleshooting
5.1 Watch Not Running
If your watch has stopped, it may simply need to be wound. Wear the watch for several hours or manually wind it by rotating the crown in Position 0 clockwise for 30-40 turns. If the watch still does not run after adequate winding, it may require professional inspection.
5.2 Incorrect Time or Date
Refer to Section 2.2 for instructions on how to correctly set the time and date. Ensure you avoid setting the date between 9:00 PM and 4:00 AM.
5.3 Condensation Inside the Crystal
If you notice condensation inside the watch crystal, this indicates that moisture has entered the watch. Immediately take the watch to an authorized service center for inspection and repair to prevent further damage to the movement.
