2. Safety Information

  • Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the lock yourself. Contact customer support for assistance.
  • Use only specified batteries (4 AA batteries). Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries.
  • Keep all keys, IC cards, and access codes in a secure location.
  • Ensure the door frame and door are properly aligned and free of obstructions for smooth operation.
  • This lock is designed for standard US wooden doors.

5. Installation

The Hornbill Smart Lock is designed for easy installation on standard US wooden doors. A screwdriver and the included screws are typically all that is needed. For detailed visual instructions, please refer to the video below.

Door Compatibility:

Ensure your door meets the following specifications:

  • Compatible with standard US wooden doors.
  • Suitable for both left and right-handed doors.
  • Refer to the diagram for minimum center-to-center measurements and potential additional drilling requirements.

6. Setup

To utilize the smart features of your Hornbill lock, you will need to set up the TTLock application and optionally integrate with a Wi-Fi Gateway and voice assistants.

6.1 App Registration and Lock Pairing:

Download the TTLock app from your device's app store. Follow the in-app instructions to register an account and pair your smart lock. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone and you are within 2 meters of the lock during pairing.

6.2 Wi-Fi Gateway and Alexa Integration:

For remote access and voice control, an optional Wi-Fi Gateway is required (sold separately). Once the Gateway is paired with your lock via the TTLock app, you can link your TTLock account to Amazon Alexa for voice commands.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 Unlocking and Locking:

  • Fingerprint: Place your registered finger on the sensor.
  • Keypad: Enter your passcode followed by the '#' key.
  • IC Card: Tap the IC card against the lock's sensor.
  • Mechanical Key: Use the physical key in the keyhole.
  • App Control: Use the TTLock app to unlock/lock via Bluetooth or remotely via Gateway.
Instructions for unlocking and locking the smart lock: Unlock by entering a passcode and hitting '#', Lock by pressing and holding '#' for 2 seconds.

7.2 Auto-Lock Feature:

The lock can be configured to automatically lock after a set period (e.g., 15-200 seconds) once unlocked. This feature ensures your door is always secured.

7.3 Generating Passcodes Remotely:

Through the TTLock app, you can generate temporary or one-time passcodes for guests or service providers, even when you are not at home. This requires the optional Wi-Fi Gateway.

7.4 Anti-Peeping Virtual Code:

To prevent others from guessing your code, you can enter random digits before or after your actual passcode. The lock will still recognize the correct sequence within the longer entry.

7.5 Operation Records:

All unlock records are synced to the TTLock app when your phone's Bluetooth is on and within range. This allows you to review who accessed your door and when.

8. Maintenance

8.1 Battery Replacement:

The smart lock requires 4 AA batteries. When the battery level is low, the lock will provide a low battery alert. Replace all four batteries simultaneously with new, high-quality alkaline AA batteries. Do not use rechargeable batteries.

8.2 Cleaning:

Wipe the lock's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or electronic components.

9. Troubleshooting

  • Lock not responding: Check battery levels and replace if necessary. Ensure the lock is properly installed and aligned.
  • Fingerprint reader issues: Ensure your finger is clean and dry. Try re-registering your fingerprint in the app.
  • App connectivity problems: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled and you are within range. For remote access, verify the Wi-Fi Gateway is powered on and connected to your network.
  • Passcode not working: Double-check the entered code. Ensure the lock is not in a temporary lockout mode due to multiple incorrect entries.
  • Deadbolt jamming: Inspect the door frame and strike plate for any obstructions or misalignment. Ensure the deadbolt operates smoothly manually.
