4.2 Battery Installation

The FS-GT5 transmitter can be powered by either a 2S LiPo battery or four AA batteries. Ensure correct polarity when inserting AA batteries.

  1. Open the battery compartment cover located at the bottom of the transmitter handle.
  2. Insert 4 AA batteries, observing the polarity markings (+/-). Alternatively, connect a 2S LiPo battery to the designated connector.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

4.3 Binding the Transmitter and Receiver

Binding is the process of linking the transmitter and receiver so they can communicate. The FS-GT5 and FS-BS6 receiver are typically pre-bound from the factory. If re-binding is necessary:

  1. Ensure the transmitter is OFF.
  2. Connect the bind cable to the 'BIND' port on the FS-BS6 receiver.
  3. Power on the receiver (e.g., connect to an ESC or separate battery). The receiver's LED should flash rapidly.
  4. While holding the 'BIND' button on the transmitter, turn on the transmitter.
  5. Release the 'BIND' button on the transmitter once the receiver's LED turns solid. This indicates successful binding.
  6. Turn off both the transmitter and receiver. Remove the bind cable from the receiver.
  7. Power on the transmitter first, then the receiver. Verify that the receiver's LED is solid, indicating a successful connection.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Operation

  1. Turn on the transmitter using the power switch.
  2. Turn on your RC vehicle/boat.
  3. Use the steering wheel for directional control (Channel 1).
  4. Use the throttle trigger for speed control (Channel 2). Pull for forward, push for reverse/brake.
  5. Adjust steering trim (Channel 1) and throttle trim (Channel 2) as needed to ensure the vehicle tracks straight and stops when the trigger is neutral.

5.2 Menu Navigation and Settings

The FS-GT5 features an LCD screen and navigation buttons for accessing and adjusting various settings. Use the 'BIND' knob (rotate to select, press to confirm) and 'BACK/EXIT' button to navigate the menus.

  • Model Selection: The transmitter can store up to 20 models. Select the appropriate model for your vehicle.
  • REV (Reverse): Adjust channel direction if controls are inverted.
  • EPA (End Point Adjustment): Set the maximum travel for each channel.
  • D/R (Dual Rate): Adjust the sensitivity of steering and throttle.
  • EXP (Exponential): Fine-tune the response curve of steering and throttle.
  • ABS Function: Configure automatic braking parameters.
  • CRAWL Mode: Activate and configure settings for climbing vehicles.
  • SVC Mode: Enable and adjust Smart Car Control settings.
  • F.SAFE (Fail-Safe): Set the fail-safe positions for channels in case of signal loss.
  • Gyro: Enable or disable the built-in gyroscope and adjust its sensitivity.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the transmitter and receiver. Avoid using solvents or harsh chemicals.
  • Storage: Store the unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care: Remove batteries if the unit will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage. If using LiPo batteries, follow proper charging and storage guidelines.
  • Antenna Care: Handle the antenna carefully. The FS-GT5 features a foldable antenna; ensure it is folded properly when not in use to prevent damage.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Check battery installation and charge level. Ensure the power switch is in the 'ON' position.
  • No Control/Signal Loss: Verify that the transmitter and receiver are properly bound. Ensure both units are powered on. Check for interference from other 2.4GHz devices. Ensure the receiver antenna is not damaged or obstructed.
  • Controls Reversed: Adjust the 'REV' setting for the affected channel in the transmitter's menu.
  • Vehicle Drifts/Doesn't Stop: Adjust the steering and throttle trim settings. Perform a calibration if available in the menu.
  • Short Range: Check for antenna damage on both transmitter and receiver. Ensure no large metal objects are obstructing the signal path.
  • Alarm Sounds: Check the battery voltage of the transmitter. The vibration alarm indicates low voltage or potential signal loss.
