Important Safeguards

  • Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to “off,” then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.

Setup

Before First Use

  1. Unpack all components and remove any packaging materials.
  2. Wash the inner cooking pot, glass lid, steaming basket, rice paddle, and measuring cup in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.
  3. Wipe the exterior of the rice cooker base with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the base unit in water.

Assembly

  1. Place the rice cooker base on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface.
  2. Ensure the inner cooking pot is clean and dry, then place it inside the rice cooker base.
  3. Place the glass lid securely on top of the inner cooking pot.

Operating Instructions

Cooking Rice

  1. Measure the desired amount of rice using the provided measuring cup. Rinse rice thoroughly if desired.
  2. Add the rinsed rice to the inner cooking pot.
  3. Add the appropriate amount of water. A common ratio is 1 cup of rice to 1.5-2 cups of water, but refer to specific rice packaging for best results. The inner pot has water level markings for guidance.
  4. Place the inner pot into the rice cooker base and cover with the glass lid.
  5. Plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet.
  6. Press the 'COOK' lever down. The 'COOK' indicator light will illuminate.
  7. Once cooking is complete, the rice cooker will automatically switch to the 'WARM' setting, and the 'WARM' indicator light will illuminate.
  8. Allow rice to rest on 'WARM' for 5-10 minutes before serving for optimal texture.
  9. Unplug the appliance after serving.

Steaming Food

  4. Cover with the glass lid.
  5. Plug in the appliance and press the 'COOK' lever down.
  6. Steam until food reaches desired doneness. Cooking times will vary based on food type and quantity.
  7. Carefully remove the lid, avoiding steam. Use oven mitts.
  8. Unplug the appliance and carefully remove the steaming basket.

Keep Warm Function

The Cuisinart CRC-800 automatically switches to the 'WARM' setting once the cooking cycle is complete. This function keeps your food at an ideal serving temperature without overcooking. The 'WARM' indicator light will be illuminated. Do not leave food on the 'WARM' setting for extended periods (more than 1 hour) to maintain food quality and safety.
