Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Thermometer does not turn on. | Low or depleted batteries; incorrectly inserted batteries. | Replace batteries with new AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity. |
| Inaccurate or inconsistent readings. | Improper measurement distance; sensor is dirty; rapid temperature changes in environment; thermometer not acclimated. | Ensure correct measurement distance (1-2 inches); clean the infrared sensor; allow thermometer to acclimate to room temperature for 10-15 minutes; avoid taking measurements in drafts or direct sunlight. |
| Display shows 'HI' or 'LO'. | Temperature is outside the measurable range. | Ensure the measurement is within the specified operating range (e.g., 35-38°C for body temperature). |
| Red display and alarm sound. | Indicates a detected fever (elevated body temperature). | Consult a medical professional if a fever is detected. |
