The ZENEC Z-N965 is a versatile 1-DIN car multimedia system designed to enhance your in-car entertainment and navigation experience. It features a large 9-inch capacitive touchscreen display, offering intuitive control and clear visuals. Installation and Setup

1. Pre-Installation Checklist

  • Ensure your vehicle has a standard 1-DIN radio slot.
  • Gather necessary tools: screwdriver set, wire strippers, electrical tape, multimeter.
  • Disconnect the vehicle's battery before starting installation.
  • Refer to your vehicle's specific wiring diagram for proper connections.

2. Physical Installation

  1. Remove the existing car radio or blanking plate from the 1-DIN slot.
  2. Mount the Z-N965 chassis into the 1-DIN slot using the provided mounting hardware.
  3. Connect the main power harness, speaker wires, antenna cable, and any auxiliary inputs/outputs (USB, HDMI, camera inputs).
  4. Carefully route all cables to prevent pinching or interference.
  5. Once the chassis is secured and wired, attach the display unit to the chassis.

3. Initial Power-On and Display Adjustment

  1. Reconnect the vehicle's battery.
  2. Turn on the vehicle's ignition and power on the Z-N965.
  3. Adjust the display's tilt angle and vertical position to achieve optimal visibility from the driver's seat. This can typically be done via mechanical adjustments on the unit itself.
  4. Follow any on-screen prompts for initial setup, such as language selection or time zone.

Operating Instructions

1. Basic Operation

  • Power On/Off: Press and hold the power button (usually located on the front panel) to turn the unit on or off.
  • Volume Control: Use the dedicated volume buttons or on-screen controls to adjust audio levels.
  • Home Screen: Press the "HOME" button to return to the main menu, where you can select different functions like Radio, Media, Navigation, CarPlay/Android Auto.

2. Radio Functions (DAB+ and FM)

  • Select "TUNER" or "RADIO" from the home screen.
  • Switch between DAB+ and FM modes as desired.
  • DAB+: The dual DAB+ tuner provides excellent digital radio reception. Use the on-screen controls to browse dynamic station lists, view MOT Slideshows (if available), and access DLS text information. The system supports DAB/DAB-FM service following for seamless transitions.
  • FM: Tune to FM stations manually or use the auto-scan function. Save your favorite stations to presets for quick access.

3. Bluetooth Connectivity

  • Go to the "BT" or "Bluetooth" menu.
  • Enable Bluetooth on your mobile phone and search for available devices.
  • Select "ZENEC Z-N965" from your phone's list and confirm the pairing code on both devices.
  • Once paired, you can make and receive hands-free calls and stream audio (A2DP) from your phone to the Z-N965.

4. USB Media Playback

  • Connect a USB storage device or an iPod/iPhone to one of the two USB ports.
  • Select "USB" or "MEDIA" from the home screen.
  • Browse and play audio or video files stored on the connected device.

5. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

  • Connect your compatible iPhone or Android smartphone to the Z-N965 via a USB cable.
  • The system will automatically detect and launch Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
  • Control navigation, make calls, send messages, and play music using the Z-N965's touchscreen or voice commands (Siri for CarPlay, Google Assistant for Android Auto).

6. Camera Inputs

  • The Z-N965 features three camera inputs. Connect compatible rearview, front, or side cameras.
  • The rearview camera input typically activates automatically when the vehicle is shifted into reverse.
  • Other camera views can be accessed via the on-screen menu.

7. Audio Settings

  • Access the audio settings menu to customize sound output.
  • Adjust the 10-band graphic equalizer to fine-tune frequency response.
  • Utilize 5-channel time correction to optimize sound staging.
  • Configure active DSP-based crossovers for speaker management.
  • Adjust subwoofer settings including level, phase, and gain.

Maintenance

  • Screen Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the touchscreen. For stubborn marks, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a screen-safe cleaner. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
  • General Cleaning: Keep the unit's chassis and surrounding areas free from dust and debris. Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean vents and button crevices.
  • Software Updates: Periodically check the official ZENEC website for available firmware updates. Updates can improve performance, add features, or resolve bugs. Follow the instructions provided with the update files carefully.
  • Cable Connections: Ensure all cables are securely connected. Loose connections can lead to intermittent issues.

Troubleshooting
