Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons. Read all instructions carefully before using this appliance.

  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or the coffee maker in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to 'off', then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  • Note: Too coarse a grind, too little coffee, or insufficiently tamping the grounds before brewing can all lead to inadequate pressure for a proper brew.

Setup and First Use

  2. Clean: Wash the glass carafe and reusable filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
  3. Initial Rinse: Before brewing coffee for the first time, run a full cycle with only water to clean the internal components. Fill the water reservoir to the 12-cup mark, place the empty reusable filter in the basket, and press the ON/OFF button to start a brew cycle. Discard the water after the cycle is complete.

Operating Instructions

Setting the Clock

  1. Plug the coffee maker into a standard electrical outlet. The LCD display will flash '12:00'.
  2. Press the HOUR button repeatedly to set the current hour. The time will cycle through AM and PM.
  3. Press the MIN button repeatedly to set the current minutes.
  4. The clock will automatically set after a few seconds of inactivity.

Brewing Coffee

  1. Fill Water Reservoir: Open the top lid and fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water to the desired level, indicated by the markings on the side of the reservoir. Do not exceed the 12-cup maximum fill line.
  2. Add Coffee Grounds: Place the reusable coffee filter into the filter basket. Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter. For best results, use 1 tablespoon of ground coffee per cup. Adjust to personal preference.
  3. Position Carafe: Ensure the glass carafe is placed correctly on the warming plate.
  4. Start Brewing: Press the ON/OFF button. The indicator light will illuminate, and the brewing process will begin.
  5. Pause & Serve: During the brewing cycle, you can temporarily remove the carafe to pour a cup of coffee. The anti-drip feature will prevent coffee from dripping onto the warming plate for a short period. Return the carafe to the warming plate within 20 seconds to prevent overflow.
  6. Auto Shut-Off: The coffee maker will automatically shut off after a period of inactivity to conserve energy.

Programming Auto-Brew

You can program the coffee maker to start brewing at a specific time up to 24 hours in advance.

  1. Follow steps 1 and 2 from the 'Brewing Coffee' section to fill water and add coffee grounds.
  2. Press the PRO button. The LCD display will flash '12:00'.
  3. Use the HOUR and MIN buttons to set your desired brew time.
  4. Once the desired time is set, the display will show the current time again. The 'PRO' indicator light will illuminate, confirming the auto-brew is set.
  5. The coffee maker will automatically start brewing at the programmed time.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.

  • Daily Cleaning: After each use, unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool. Remove the reusable filter and discard any used coffee grounds. Wash the carafe and reusable filter basket in warm, soapy water or place them in the dishwasher (top rack recommended).
  • Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior surfaces of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  • Descaling: Mineral deposits from water can build up over time and affect performance. To descale, fill the water reservoir with a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:2 ratio). Run a full brew cycle. After the cycle, run two full cycles with fresh, clean water to rinse thoroughly. Perform descaling every 1-3 months depending on water hardness.
  • Never immerse the main coffee maker unit, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
