5. Operating Instructions
Your GREE Mini Split System is controlled via the wireless remote control and can also be managed through a smartphone application via built-in Wi-Fi.
5.1. Wireless Remote Control Functions

Figure 5.1: GREE Wireless Remote Control. This remote allows for full control over the indoor unit's settings and modes.
- POWER Button: Turns the unit ON or OFF.
- MODE Button: Cycles through operating modes: AUTO, COOL, DRY, FAN, HEAT.
- FAN Button: Adjusts fan speed (Auto, Low, Medium, High).
- SWING Button: Controls the louver's vertical airflow direction.
- SLEEP Button: Activates sleep mode for energy-efficient and quiet operation during sleep.
- I FEEL Button: Activates the 'I FEEL' function. In this mode, the remote control's built-in sensor measures the ambient temperature and transmits this data to the indoor unit. The unit then adjusts its operation to maintain the desired temperature at the remote's location, optimizing comfort in your immediate vicinity.
- TIMER ON/OFF Button: Sets the automatic ON/OFF time for the unit.
- CLOCK Button: Sets the current time on the remote control.
- TURBO Button: Initiates rapid cooling or heating for a short period.
- X-FAN Button: Activates the X-Fan function, which runs the indoor fan for a short period after shutdown to dry the evaporator coil and prevent mold growth.
- LIGHT Button: Turns the display light on the indoor unit ON or OFF.
5.2. Built-in Wi-Fi Operation
The GREE MULTI+ Ultra Vireo system includes built-in Wi-Fi, allowing you to control your units remotely via a compatible smartphone application. Download the GREE+ app from your device's app store. Refer to the separate Wi-Fi setup guide or the in-app instructions for pairing your units and utilizing smart features.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the efficiency and longevity of your mini split system. Always disconnect power to the unit before performing any maintenance.
6.1. Air Filter Cleaning
The air filters in the indoor units should be cleaned every two weeks or more frequently depending on usage and air quality. Dirty filters can reduce airflow, decrease efficiency, and impact air quality.
- Open the front panel of the indoor unit.
- Remove the air filters.
- Clean the filters with a vacuum cleaner or wash them with lukewarm water and a mild detergent.
- Allow filters to dry completely before reinstalling.
- Close the front panel securely.
6.2. Outdoor Unit Maintenance
Periodically inspect the outdoor condenser unit. Ensure the area around the unit is clear of leaves, debris, and other obstructions that could impede airflow. Clean the coil fins gently if they become dirty, taking care not to bend them. For thorough cleaning or inspection of internal components, contact a qualified HVAC technician.
7. Troubleshooting
Before contacting service, review the following common issues and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Unit does not start | No power; Remote control batteries low; Timer set to OFF | Check circuit breaker; Replace batteries; Cancel timer setting |
| Insufficient cooling/heating | Dirty air filter; Blocked outdoor unit; Incorrect mode setting; Room too large | Clean air filter; Clear obstructions; Select correct mode; Consult HVAC professional for sizing |
| Unusual noise | Loose parts; Debris in fan; Refrigerant flow noise (normal) | Contact technician if persistent or loud; Normal refrigerant sounds are common |
| Water leakage from indoor unit | Blocked drain pipe; Improper installation | Contact a qualified HVAC technician immediately |
For issues not listed here or if troubleshooting steps do not resolve the problem, contact a qualified HVAC technician.
