1. Introduction

The YIHUA 1000B is a versatile 4-in-1 professional rework station designed for various electronic repair tasks. It integrates an Infrared (IR) BGA rework system with a temperature sensor, a bottom preheater, a hot air rework station, and a soldering station. This comprehensive unit provides efficient and precise tools for soldering, desoldering, reworking, and modifying printed circuit boards (PCBs) and other electronic components.

2. Safety Information

Read all safety warnings and instructions before using this product. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.

  • Always operate the unit in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling fumes from soldering.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, to protect against splashes of molten solder.
  • Ensure the workstation is stable and on a heat-resistant surface.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces, such as the soldering iron tip, hot air nozzle, or preheater plate, as they can cause severe burns. Allow components to cool before handling.
  • Keep flammable materials away from the work area.
  • Disconnect the power plug from the outlet when not in use or before performing maintenance.
  • Never use the unit if the power cord or plug is damaged.
  • This unit is designed for 110-127V operation with a US-standard power plug. Do not attempt to use it with different voltage supplies without a proper converter.

4. Product Overview and Components

Familiarize yourself with the main components and their functions.

4.1 Main Unit

The main unit houses the control panel, power supply, and connections for all tools. It features digital displays for temperature settings of the IR lamp, preheater, soldering iron, and hot air gun.

4.2 Soldering Iron (Model 907F)

The soldering iron features a premium-quality ceramic heating element for efficient and stable heating. It connects to the main unit via a multi-pin connector.

4.3 Hot Air Gun (Model R118B)

The hot air gun is equipped with a ceramic heating element and provides adjustable airflow and temperature for rework tasks. It also connects to the main unit.

4.4 IR Infrared BGA System

This system includes an infrared lamp and a temperature sensor for precise, focused heating of BGA components, minimizing heat damage to surrounding areas.

4.5 Preheater

The preheater features a high-quality ceramic plate designed to provide even and stable heating for PCBs, reducing thermal stress during rework.

4.6 Adjustable PCB Holder

A dual-axle design provides flexible support for various PCB sizes, enhancing stability during operations.

5. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your YIHUA 1000B rework station.

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Retain the packaging for future storage or transport.
  2. Placement: Place the main unit on a stable, heat-resistant, and level workbench in a well-ventilated area. Ensure sufficient space around the unit for airflow and operation.
  3. Assemble PCB Holder and IR Lamp: Attach the adjustable PCB holder and the IR lamp assembly to the main unit as per the included diagrams. Ensure all screws are tightened securely.
  4. Connect Soldering Iron: Plug the 907F soldering iron into the designated "SOLDERING IRON" port on the main unit.
  5. Connect Hot Air Gun: Plug the R118B hot air gun into the designated "HOT AIR" port on the main unit.
  6. Connect Temperature Sensor: If using the external temperature sensor for the IR system, connect it to the "SENSOR" port.
  7. Power Connection: Ensure the power switch on the main unit is in the "OFF" position. Connect the power cord to the main unit's power input and then plug it into a grounded 110-127V AC power outlet.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 General Operation

Turn the main power switch to "ON". The digital displays will illuminate, showing the current temperature settings or actual temperatures. Use the control knobs and buttons associated with each function (IR Heat Lamp, Pre-Heat Plate, Soldering Iron, Hot Air) to adjust settings. The unit supports both Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) display modes, which can typically be toggled via a dedicated button or menu option.

6.2 Infrared System & Temperature Sensor

The IR system provides focused heating for BGA components. The external temperature sensor allows for precise monitoring of the component's temperature, preventing overheating. Position the IR lamp directly over the target component. Place the temperature sensor as close as possible to the board, near the outer third of the area under focus, without touching the board or components, to accurately monitor the heat supplied.

6.3 Preheater Operation

The preheater warms the PCB from below, reducing thermal shock and improving the efficiency of soldering and rework processes. Place the PCB on the preheater plate. Adjust the preheater temperature using its dedicated controls. Allow sufficient time for the PCB to reach the desired preheat temperature before beginning other operations.

6.4 Soldering Station Operation

Select an appropriate soldering tip for your task and insert it into the soldering iron. Adjust the soldering iron temperature using its controls. For optimal soldering, the set temperature should be approximately 50°C / 90°F above the solder's melting point. Additionally, set the temperature an extra 100°C / 180°F higher to provide a heat reserve for quick thermal recovery of the tip after a solder connection is made.

6.5 Hot Air Rework Station Operation

Choose a hot air nozzle suitable for the component size. Attach the nozzle to the hot air gun. Adjust the hot air temperature and airflow using the dedicated controls. The hot air gun features a fail-safe protection mechanism that automatically cools down the heating element when placed in its holder, extending its lifespan.

7. Maintenance

  • Soldering Iron Tip Cleaning: Regularly clean the soldering iron tip using the provided brass wool or a damp sponge. This removes oxidation and solder residue, ensuring efficient heat transfer. Re-tin the tip with fresh solder after cleaning.
  • Hot Air Nozzle Cleaning: Ensure hot air nozzles are free from debris and blockages. Clean them when cool using a soft brush or cloth.
  • General Unit Cleaning: Wipe down the main unit and other components with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the unit is unplugged and cool before cleaning.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the unit in a clean, dry environment, away from dust and moisture.
