4. Setup Instructions

4.1 Powering the Main Unit

  1. Using AC Adapter (Recommended): Connect the included AC power adapter to the DC IN port on the back of the main unit and plug it into a standard wall outlet. The screen will remain continuously lit.
  2. Using Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the back of the main unit and insert 2x AA batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity (+/-). When powered by batteries, the screen will automatically turn off after approximately 10 seconds to conserve power. Press any button to illuminate the screen temporarily.

4.2 Installing the Remote Sensor

  1. Open the battery compartment of the wireless remote sensor and insert 2x AA batteries (not included), observing correct polarity.
  2. Place the remote sensor in a suitable outdoor location, ideally sheltered from direct sunlight and rain, to ensure accurate readings.
  3. Ensure the sensor is within the 60m / 200ft transmission range of the main unit. Avoid placing it near metal mesh, strong magnetic fields, or large obstructions that could interfere with the signal.

Figure 4.1: Optimal placement and transmission range for the remote sensor.

4.3 Initial Synchronization and RCC Function

Upon powering on, the weather station will automatically attempt to receive the Radio Controlled Clock (RCC) signal for automatic time calibration. During this 7-minute process, the screen may temporarily dim or turn off to minimize interference. Once successful, the screen will illuminate again, and the time will be set automatically.

If the weather station does not receive transmission from the remote sensor (indicated by "- -" on the LCD), press and hold the "Down" button for 3 seconds on the main unit to manually initiate sensor transmission reception.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Display Overview

The main display is divided into several sections:

  • Remote Sensor: Displays outdoor temperature and humidity.
  • Forecast: Shows the predicted weather icon and trend.
  • Indoor Sensor: Displays indoor temperature and humidity.
  • Time & Date: Current time, date, and moon phase.
  • Barometer: Barometric pressure readings and history.

5.2 Button Functions

5.3 Setting Time and Date

If the atomic clock (RCC) function is not available or fails, you can manually set the time and date. Refer to the specific instructions in the included user manual for detailed steps on setting time, date, and alarm.

5.4 RCC (Radio Controlled Clock) Operation

The weather station attempts to synchronize with the RCC signal automatically at 1:00 AM, 2:00 AM, and 3:00 AM daily. If reception fails, it will retry at 4:00 AM and 5:00 AM. After 5:00 AM, automatic RCC attempts will cease until the next day. During RCC synchronization (up to 7 minutes), the screen may dim. You can press SNOOZE to illuminate the screen without interrupting the RCC process. To stop RCC synchronization, press the UP button.

5.5 Temperature and Humidity Alerts

The device allows you to set high and low temperature alerts for both indoor and outdoor readings. Consult the detailed user manual for instructions on how to configure these alerts.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the main unit and remote sensor with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries in both the main unit and remote sensor when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Ensure to use fresh AA batteries and dispose of old batteries responsibly.
  • Sensor Placement: Periodically check the remote sensor's placement to ensure it remains free from obstructions and is in an optimal location for accurate readings and signal transmission.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
"- -" displayed for outdoor readingsNo signal from remote sensor.Press and hold the "Down" button for 3 seconds on the main unit to manually search for the sensor. Ensure sensor batteries are fresh and it's within range. Avoid metal obstructions.
Time/Date resets after power offMain unit was powered off or batteries removed. This is normal behavior. Reconnect AC power or insert fresh batteries. The unit will attempt RCC synchronization. If needed, manually reset time/date.
Inaccurate weather forecastLocal air pressure variations. The forecast is based on barometric pressure changes. If the forecast seems consistently off, you may need to manually adjust the pressure setting according to your local conditions. Refer to the full manual for advanced settings.
RCC signal reception issuesSignal interference or weak signal.Ensure the weather station is not near electronic devices that cause interference. Try relocating the unit to a different spot, preferably near a window, away from large metal objects.
