3. Usage Instructions

3.1. Identifying Your Lock Code

Before using your replacement keys, ensure that your lock's code matches "W625". The lock code can typically be found in several locations:

  • On the original key: The code is often stamped directly onto the key.
  • On the lock face: The code may be engraved or printed on the visible part of the lock cylinder.
  • On a label inside/behind the lock: For cabinet or desk locks, the code might be on a sticker or label located on the inside of the drawer, door, or behind the lock mechanism.
  • On the cabinet/door label: Some furniture items have a label with the lock code.

Important Note: Lock codes are manufacturer-specific. Even if codes appear similar, key cuts can vary significantly between brands. Always verify the manufacturer and code before attempting to use a replacement key.

3.2. Key Insertion and Operation

  1. Gently insert the W625 replacement key into the lock cylinder.
  2. If the key does not insert smoothly, do not force it. Remove the key and inspect both the key and the lock for any obstructions or damage.
  3. Once fully inserted, turn the key clockwise or counter-clockwise (depending on the lock mechanism) to engage or disengage the lock.
  4. Remove the key by turning it back to its original position and pulling it straight out.

3.3. Lubrication with Super Lube

The included Super Lube is recommended for lubricating old or stiff locks to improve key operation and extend lock life.

  1. Clean any visible dirt or debris from the lock's keyway.
  2. Apply a small amount of Super Lube directly into the keyway of the lock. A single drop is usually sufficient.
  3. Insert and remove the key several times, turning it gently in both directions, to distribute the lubricant throughout the lock mechanism.
  4. Wipe away any excess lubricant from the lock face and key.

4. Maintenance

  • Keep keys clean and free from dirt or foreign objects.
  • Store keys in a safe place to prevent loss or damage.
  • Periodically lubricate your locks with a suitable lubricant like the provided Super Lube, especially if they become stiff or difficult to operate.
  • Avoid using excessive force when turning keys, as this can damage both the key and the lock.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Key does not insert fully: Check for obstructions in the keyway. Ensure the key is the correct W625 model for your lock.
  • Key turns but lock does not open/close: The lock mechanism may be damaged or jammed. Try lubricating the lock. If the issue persists, professional assistance may be required.
  • Key is stiff or difficult to turn: Apply the Super Lube as described in Section 3.3.
  • Key breaks in lock: Do not attempt to remove broken pieces with force. Contact a locksmith or EasyKeys customer support for assistance.
