Setup

Follow these steps to prepare your lawn mower for its first use:

1. Unpacking

Carefully remove all packaging materials. Inspect the mower for any signs of damage during transit. Report any damage to your retailer immediately.

2. Handle Assembly

Attach the upper handle to the lower handle using the provided bolts and quick-release knobs. Ensure all control cables are routed correctly and are not pinched or stretched. Tighten all fasteners securely.

3. Grass Collection Bag Assembly

Assemble the semi-rigid grass collection bag according to the instructions provided with the bag. Once assembled, lift the rear discharge flap and hook the grass bag onto the mower's chassis.

4. Fuel and Oil

  • Add Engine Oil: Before starting, fill the engine's oil reservoir with the recommended 4-stroke engine oil (e.g., SAE 30 or 10W-30). Refer to the engine manual for specific oil type and capacity. Do not overfill.
  • Add Fuel: Fill the fuel tank with fresh, unleaded gasoline. Do not use E85 or other ethanol-heavy fuels. Ensure the fuel cap is securely tightened after filling.

Warning: Always add fuel and oil in a well-ventilated area with the engine off and cool. Avoid spilling fuel.

5. Battery Connection (Electric Start)

Connect the battery for the electric start function. Ensure the positive (+) terminal is connected to the positive terminal of the battery and the negative (-) terminal to the negative terminal. Secure the connections firmly.

Operating Instructions

Follow these guidelines for safe and effective mowing:

1. Pre-Operation Checks

  • Verify fuel and oil levels are adequate.
  • Inspect the cutting blade for sharpness, damage, or looseness.
  • Ensure the mowing area is clear of debris, rocks, and other obstacles.
  • Check that all nuts, bolts, and screws are securely tightened.

2. Starting the Engine

  • Electric Start: Ensure the operator presence control bar (safety bar) on the handle is held against the handle. Press the electric start button.
  • Pull Start: If using the pull start, hold the operator presence control bar against the handle. Grasp the starter cord handle and pull it firmly and smoothly until the engine starts. Do not let the cord snap back.

3. Adjusting Cutting Height

The cutting height can be adjusted between 20 mm and 70 mm. Locate the height adjustment lever, typically near the wheels. Move the lever to select one of the 5 available cutting positions. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.

4. Mowing Technique

  • Self-Propelled Operation: Engage the self-propel lever on the handle to activate the drive system. The mower will move forward automatically.
  • Mowing Pattern: For best results and a striped finish, mow in straight, overlapping lines. Overlap each pass by a few centimeters to avoid missed strips.
  • Grass Conditions: Avoid mowing wet grass, as it can clog the mower and lead to an uneven cut.

5. Emptying the Grass Bag

When the grass bag is full, the mower's collection efficiency will decrease. Stop the engine completely by releasing the safety bar before removing the grass bag. Empty the clippings and reattach the bag securely.

6. Stopping the Engine

To stop the engine, simply release the operator presence control bar (safety bar) on the handle. The engine will shut off automatically.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your lawn mower. Always disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance.

1. Cleaning

After each use, clean the underside of the mower deck and the grass collection bag. Remove all grass clippings and debris to prevent buildup and corrosion. Do not use a high-pressure washer directly on the engine or electrical components.

2. Blade Care

Regularly inspect the cutting blade for sharpness, cracks, or bends. A dull or damaged blade can lead to an uneven cut and strain the engine. Sharpen or replace the blade as needed. Always wear heavy-duty gloves when handling the blade.

3. Oil Change

Change the engine oil after the first 5 hours of operation (break-in period), then every 25 hours of operation or at least once per mowing season, whichever comes first. Refer to the engine manual for the correct procedure and oil type.

4. Spark Plug

Inspect the spark plug annually. Clean any carbon deposits and adjust the gap if necessary. Replace the spark plug if it is fouled or worn. Use the recommended spark plug type as specified in the engine manual.

5. Air Filter

Clean the air filter regularly, especially when operating in dusty conditions. A clogged air filter can reduce engine performance and increase fuel consumption. Replace the air filter if it is damaged or cannot be cleaned effectively.

6. Storage

For long-term storage (over 30 days), prepare the mower by draining the fuel or adding a fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel degradation. Clean the mower thoroughly, lubricate moving parts, and store it in a dry, well-ventilated area, protected from extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting

Refer to this section for common issues and their solutions:

Engine Does Not Start:

  • No Fuel: Check the fuel tank and fill with fresh unleaded gasoline.
  • Low Oil: Check the engine oil level and add oil if necessary.
  • Spark Plug Issue: Inspect the spark plug. It may be dirty, wet, or faulty. Clean or replace it.
  • Safety Bar Not Engaged: Ensure the operator presence control bar is fully held against the handle.
  • Battery (Electric Start): Check if the battery for the electric start is charged and properly connected.

Uneven Cut:

  • Dull/Damaged Blade: Inspect the cutting blade. Sharpen or replace if dull or damaged.
  • Uneven Height Adjustment: Ensure all wheels are set to the same cutting height position.
  • Mowing Wet Grass: Avoid mowing wet grass, which can clump and lead to an uneven finish.

Excessive Vibration:

  • Damaged Blade: A bent or unbalanced blade is a common cause of vibration. Replace the blade if damaged.
  • Loose Fasteners: Check all bolts and nuts, especially those securing the blade and engine, and tighten them.
  • Debris Under Deck: Remove any accumulated grass or debris from the underside of the cutting deck.
