5. Setup
5.1 Power Connection
Your Trevi CMP 583 DAB Portable Stereo can be powered by AC mains or batteries.
- AC Power: Connect the supplied AC power cable to the AC input socket on the back of the unit and then to a standard 230V ~ 50Hz wall outlet.
- Battery Power: For portable use, open the battery compartment on the bottom of the unit. Insert 4 x 'C' (UM2) size batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the battery compartment securely.
5.2 Antenna Adjustment
For optimal radio reception, fully extend the telescopic antenna located on the top of the unit. Adjust its orientation for the best signal quality.
5.3 Initial Power-On
Press the STANDBY button on the unit or remote control to turn on the device. The display will illuminate.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 General Controls
- Power On/Off: Press the STANDBY button.
- Function Selection: Press the FUN button repeatedly to cycle through modes: DAB, FM, CD, USB, AUX-in.
- Volume Adjustment: Use the VOL+ and VOL- buttons on the unit or remote to increase or decrease the volume.
- Mute: Press the MUTE button on the remote control to temporarily silence the audio. Press again to unmute.
6.2 DAB/DAB+ Radio Operation
- Select DAB mode using the FUN button.
- The unit will automatically scan for available DAB/DAB+ stations upon first use. To perform a manual scan, press and hold the SCAN button on the remote or navigate through the menu.
- Use the PREV/TUN- and NEXT/TUN+ buttons to browse through the available stations.
- Press ENTER to select a station.
- Press INFO to view station information (e.g., program type, signal strength).
6.3 FM Radio Operation
- Select FM mode using the FUN button.
- Auto Scan: Press and hold the SCAN button to automatically scan and store available FM stations. The unit can memorize up to 30 stations.
- Manual Tuning: Use the PREV/TUN- and NEXT/TUN+ buttons to manually tune to a frequency.
- RDS Function: If an FM station broadcasts RDS (Radio Data System) information, it will be displayed on the screen.
6.4 CD/MP3 Playback
- Select CD mode using the FUN button.
- Open the CD compartment cover.
- Place a CD (audio CD, CD-R/RW with MP3 files) onto the spindle with the label side facing up.
- Close the CD compartment cover. The unit will read the disc.
- Press PLAY/PAUSE to start or pause playback.
- Use PREV/TUN- and NEXT/TUN+ to skip tracks. Press and hold to fast forward/rewind.
- Press STOP to end playback.
- Press RPT (Repeat) to cycle through repeat modes (e.g., repeat one, repeat all).
6.5 USB Playback
- Select USB mode using the FUN button.
- Insert a USB flash drive containing MP3 files into the USB port on the front panel.
- The unit will automatically detect and begin playing MP3 files.
- Use PLAY/PAUSE, STOP, PREV/TUN-, NEXT/TUN+, and RPT buttons as you would for CD playback.
6.6 AUX-in Connection
- Select AUX-in mode using the FUN button.
- Connect an external audio device (e.g., smartphone, MP3 player) to the AUX-in port on the front panel using a 3.5mm audio cable (not supplied).
- Audio from the external device will now play through the stereo's speakers. Control playback from the connected device.
6.7 Headphone Jack
Connect standard 3.5mm headphones to the headphone jack for private listening. When headphones are connected, the main speakers will be muted.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning the Unit
Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents as they may damage the finish.
7.2 CD Lens Cleaning
