3. Setup and Installation

Proper installation ensures optimal performance and comfort. Follow these steps to install your ET-COM headset on your helmet.

3.1. Helmet Preparation

It is recommended to remove the inner padding of your helmet before installation to facilitate cable routing and speaker placement. The padding can be reinstalled once the components are secured.

3.2. Mounting the Main Unit

Choose between the metal clamp bracket or the 3M adhesive bracket based on your helmet type and preference. The metal clamp offers a more secure fit, while the adhesive bracket is suitable for helmets where the clamp cannot be used.

  1. Using the Metal Clamp Bracket: Loosen the screws on the metal bracket. Slide the bracket between the outer shell and inner padding of your helmet on the left side. Tighten the screws using the provided Allen wrench until the bracket is firmly secured.
  2. Using the 3M Adhesive Bracket: Clean the desired mounting area on the left side of your helmet. Peel off the red protective layer from the 3M adhesive. Firmly press the adhesive bracket onto the helmet surface for at least 30 seconds. Allow 24 hours for the adhesive to fully cure before attaching the main unit.
  3. Once the bracket is installed, slide the main ET-COM unit onto the bracket until it clicks securely into place.

3.3. Installing Speakers and Microphone

The ET-COM includes two Hi-Fi speakers and two types of microphones (boom and button) for different helmet styles.

  1. Speaker Placement: Attach the Velcro pads (if needed) to the inside of your helmet's ear pockets. Peel off the white protective layer from the speaker's Velcro backing and firmly press each speaker into the ear pockets. Ensure they are positioned directly over your ears for optimal audio.
  2. Microphone Selection:
    • For open-face or modular helmets, use the boom microphone. Attach it to the inside of the helmet near your mouth using the adhesive pad.
    • For full-face helmets, use the button microphone. This microphone can be discreetly placed inside the helmet's chin bar area.
  3. Cable Management: Route all speaker and microphone cables neatly under the helmet's inner padding to prevent discomfort and ensure they are not exposed. Reinstall the helmet's inner padding.
  4. Connect the speaker and microphone cables to the corresponding ports on the main ET-COM unit. Ensure a firm connection to maintain the waterproof seal.
