3.4. Installing Logitech Options+ Software (Recommended)
For full customization of function keys and other advanced features, download and install the Logitech Options+ software from the official Logitech website. This software allows you to remap keys, set application-specific shortcuts, and manage multiple connected devices.
4. Operating the Keyboard
4.1. Ergonomic Posture
The Ergo K860 is designed to promote a natural typing posture. Position the keyboard directly in front of you, ensuring your wrists are straight and your shoulders are relaxed. Utilize the integrated wrist rest to support your forearms and reduce wrist extension.
4.2. Adjustable Palm Lift
The keyboard features adjustable palm lifts at the front, allowing you to tilt the keyboard at 0°, -4°, or -7°. Experiment with these angles to find the most comfortable and ergonomic position for your wrists and forearms.
4.3. Easy-Switch Functionality
The Easy-Switch keys (1, 2, 3) located on the top right of the keyboard allow you to seamlessly switch between up to three connected devices. Simply press the corresponding key to instantly change the active device.
4.4. Function Keys (F-Keys)
The top row of keys serves as both standard F-keys (F1-F12) and media/shortcut keys. You can toggle between these modes using the Fn key (located near the right Ctrl key) or configure their default behavior via the Logitech Options+ software.
4.5. Operating System Specific Keys
The keyboard includes keys with dual legends (e.g., Cmd/Alt, Opt/Start) to support both macOS and Windows operating systems. The keyboard automatically adapts to the detected operating system, or you can manually configure key behavior using Logitech Options+.
5. Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life of your Logitech Ergo K860 keyboard.
5.1. Cleaning
- Keyboard Surface: Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Keys: For dust and debris between keys, use compressed air.
- Wrist Rest: The fabric wrist rest is stain-resistant. For minor spills, gently wipe with a damp cloth. Avoid saturating the fabric.
5.2. Battery Replacement
The keyboard uses two AAA batteries. When the battery indicator light (usually located near the power switch or Easy-Switch keys) turns red, it's time to replace the batteries. Open the battery compartment on the underside of the keyboard, remove the old batteries, and insert new AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your keyboard, try the following solutions:
6.1. No Connection / Keys Not Responding
- Check Power: Ensure the keyboard is turned on and has fresh batteries.
- USB Receiver: If using the USB receiver, ensure it is securely plugged into a working USB port on your computer. Try a different USB port.
- Bluetooth: If using Bluetooth, ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device and the keyboard is paired. Try unpairing and re-pairing the keyboard.
- Distance: Ensure the keyboard is within range (up to 10 meters or 33 feet) of your computer/device.
- Interference: Move the keyboard closer to your computer and away from other wireless devices that might cause interference (e.g., Wi-Fi routers, cordless phones).
6.2. Lagging or Delayed Input
- Battery Level: Low battery can affect performance. Replace batteries if needed.
- Interference: As above, check for potential wireless interference.
- Software: Ensure Logitech Options+ software (if installed) is up to date.
6.3. Specific Keys Not Working
- Cleaning: Clean around and under the affected keys using compressed air to remove any debris.
- Software Conflicts: If using Logitech Options+, try temporarily disabling it to see if it resolves the issue.
If problems persist, visit the Logitech support website for further assistance and updated drivers or firmware.
