4.1 Front Panel

  • ON/STBY Button: Powers the unit on or puts it into standby mode.
  • USB Port (5V === 1.0A): For connecting USB storage devices to play audio files.
  • Display: Shows current status, menu navigation, and track information.

5. Setup

5.1 Connecting Antennas

  • WLAN Antenna: Screw the supplied WLAN antenna onto the designated connector on the rear panel for Wi-Fi connectivity.
  • DAB/FM Antenna: Connect the supplied DAB+/FM antenna to the corresponding connector on the rear panel. Extend the antenna for optimal reception.

5.2 Audio Connections

Connect the MMS 730 to your amplifier or receiver using one of the following methods:

  • Analog RCA Output: Use a stereo RCA cable to connect the AUDIO OUT (L/R) jacks on the MMS 730 to an available analog input on your amplifier.
  • Digital Optical Output: Use an optical cable to connect the DIGITAL OUT (OPT) jack on the MMS 730 to an optical digital input on your amplifier or external DAC.
  • Digital Coaxial Output: Use a coaxial digital cable to connect the DIGITAL OUT (COAX) jack on the MMS 730 to a coaxial digital input on your amplifier or external DAC.

5.3 Network Connection

The MMS 730 can connect to your home network via wired Ethernet or Wi-Fi.

  • Wired (Ethernet): Connect an Ethernet cable from your router or network switch to the ETHERNET port on the rear panel.
  • Wireless (Wi-Fi): Ensure the WLAN antenna is connected. On first power-up or when selecting Wi-Fi in the settings menu, the device will guide you through connecting to your wireless network. You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password using the front panel controls or the Magnat App.

5.4 Power Connection

After all other connections are made, connect the supplied power cable to the AC INPUT on the rear panel and then to a suitable wall outlet. Flip the POWER switch on the rear panel to the "ON" position. The unit can then be powered on/off using the front panel ON/STBY button or the remote control.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic Operation

  • Power On/Off: Press the ON/STBY button on the front panel or the power button on the remote control.
  • Source Selection: Press the SOURCE button on the front panel or remote to cycle through available input sources (Internet Radio, DAB, FM, Bluetooth, USB, Network).
  • Navigation: Use the SKIP buttons (|< / >|) or the navigation buttons on the remote to browse menus and lists. Use the PLAY/PAUSE/SELECT knob or the SELECT button on the remote to confirm selections.
  • Return/Home: Use the RETURN button to go back one step in a menu, or the HOME button to return to the main menu.

6.2 Source Specific Operations

  • Internet Radio: Once connected to the network, select "Internet Radio" as the source. You can browse stations by genre, location, or search. The MMS 730 supports TuneIn radio.
  • DAB/FM Radio: Select "DAB" or "FM" as the source. Use the Info/Scan button to perform a station scan. Navigate through available stations using the SKIP buttons.
  • Bluetooth Streaming: Select "Bluetooth" as the source. The MMS 730 will enter pairing mode. On your mobile device, search for "Magnat MMS 730" and pair. The device supports aptX HD for high-resolution streaming.
  • USB Playback: Insert a USB storage device (e.g., USB stick) into the front USB port. Select "USB" as the source. The device will scan for playable audio files.
  • Network Audio: Select "Network" as the source. The MMS 730 can access audio files from network shares (e.g., NAS drives) on your home network.

6.3 Magnat App Control

The Magnat App provides convenient control and configuration options for your MMS 730. Download the app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).

  • App Installation: Search for "Magnat Audio-Stream" in your device's app store and install it.
  • Device Discovery: Ensure your smartphone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your MMS 730. Open the app, and it should automatically discover your device.
  • Functions: The app allows you to select sources, browse music libraries, control playback, manage internet radio stations, and configure network settings.

7. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Magnat MMS 730, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Disconnect the power cable before cleaning. Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to wipe the exterior surfaces. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • Ventilation: Periodically check that the ventilation openings are clear of dust and debris. Do not obstruct them.
