  • 1. Input Level (Min/Max): Adjusts the input sensitivity to match the output level of your head unit.
  • 2. Bass Freq (50Hz-250Hz): Controls the low-pass filter frequency. Frequencies above this setting will be attenuated.
  • 3. Spk Phase (Norm/180°): Selects the phase of the subwoofer output. Use 180° if the bass sounds weak or out of phase with other speakers.
  • 4. Line Input (R/L RCA): Connects to the RCA pre-out jacks of your head unit.

5. Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the performance and longevity of your subwoofer. If you are unsure about any steps, consult a professional installer.

5.1 Placement

Choose a location that provides adequate space for the subwoofer and allows for proper ventilation. Common locations include the trunk of a car, under a seat (if space permits), or in the cargo area of an SUV or RV.

5.2 Wiring Connections

Ensure all connections are secure and insulated to prevent short circuits.

  1. Power (+12V): Connect the +12V terminal of the subwoofer to the positive terminal of the vehicle's battery. Use a minimum of 10 AWG wire for this connection. Install an in-line fuse (not included, typically 20A) within 18 inches of the battery.
  2. Ground (GND): Connect the GND terminal to a clean, unpainted metal surface on the vehicle's chassis. Ensure a good electrical connection. Use a minimum of 10 AWG wire, keeping the length as short as possible.
  3. Remote Turn-On (REM): Connect the REM terminal to the remote turn-on output of your head unit. This wire signals the subwoofer to turn on and off with your vehicle's audio system.
  4. Audio Input (RCA Line Input): Connect the RCA line inputs (R and L) from the subwoofer to the RCA pre-out jacks of your head unit. If your head unit does not have RCA pre-outs, a line output converter (not included) may be required.

Note: Battery and ground wires must be 10AWG for proper performance.

6. Operation

Once installed, you can adjust the subwoofer's settings to optimize its performance with your vehicle's audio system.

6.1 Initial Power-Up

After all connections are made, reconnect the vehicle's battery. Turn on your head unit. The Power LED on the subwoofer's control panel should illuminate green, indicating it is receiving power and operating correctly.

6.2 Adjusting Controls

  • Input Level: Start with the Input Level control set to minimum. Play a familiar piece of music with strong bass. Slowly increase the Input Level until the bass sounds balanced with the rest of your audio system, without distortion.
  • Bass Freq (Low Pass Filter): Adjust the Bass Freq control to blend the subwoofer's output seamlessly with your main speakers. A common starting point is around 80-100Hz. If your main speakers are small, you might set it higher; if they are large, you might set it lower.
  • Speaker Phase: Listen to the bass response from your normal listening position. Toggle the Spk Phase switch between 'Norm' and '180°'. Choose the setting that provides the strongest and most impactful bass. This corrects any phase cancellation issues between the subwoofer and your main speakers.

7. Maintenance

The Magnadyne LS-SUB-200 subwoofer requires minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the enclosure. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Connections: Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they remain secure and free from corrosion.
  • Fuse Replacement: If the subwoofer stops working and the Protect LED is off, check the 20A fuse. If blown, replace it only with a fuse of the exact same rating (20A). Using a higher-rated fuse can cause serious damage.

8. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your subwoofer, refer to the following troubleshooting guide:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
