- Interior Unit: The Citymax telephone is a wall-mounted unit, easy to fix, and constructed from high-impact ABS plastic with a mirror-polished finish for simple cleaning.
- Exterior Unit: The City Classic door panel features a robust, urban design. It is made from anodized aluminum, providing high resistance to weathering and various climatic conditions.

Installation
The Fermax Citymax 1L kit is a wired system. Professional installation is recommended to ensure optimal performance and safety. Refer to the included wiring diagrams for specific connections.
General Installation Steps:
- Mounting the Outdoor Panel: The outdoor panel requires a flush-mount box (included) or a surface-mount box (sold separately). Ensure the panel is installed in a location protected from direct heavy rain, or consider adding a rain shield (sold separately) for enhanced protection.
- Mounting the Interior Handset: The Citymax handset is designed for wall mounting. Secure it in a convenient location inside the property.
- Power Supply Unit: The 12V AC DIN rail-mounted power supply unit should be installed inside your consumer unit or a sealed box equipped with a DIN rail. Ensure all other connections are made before connecting the 220V AC power to the unit.
- Wiring: This system typically requires an 8-core cable for connections between the outdoor panel, interior handset, and power supply. Identify and connect the 12V power cables, the 5 audio communication cables, and the 2 door opening cables according to the provided circuit diagrams.
- Varistor Placement: Two varistors are supplied. It is recommended to place one across the two terminals used for the door opening cables on the outdoor panel. This helps protect the system and prolong its lifespan.

Operation
Operating the Fermax Citymax 1L Audio Door Entry Kit is straightforward:
- Answering a Call: When a visitor presses the call button on the outdoor panel, the interior handset will ring. Lift the handset to establish two-way audio communication.
- Door Release: To open the door, press the dedicated door release button on the interior handset. The door can be opened regardless of whether the handset has been lifted for communication.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your door entry kit:
- Cleaning: The Citymax handset's mirror-polished ABS plastic finish allows for easy cleaning with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Outdoor Panel Seals: Ensure the self-adhesive rubber seals on the outdoor panel are intact and properly seated to prevent water ingress.
- Nameplate Illumination: The outdoor panel's nameplate is illuminated by a 12V festoon lamp. If the illumination fails, this lamp can be replaced. For extended life, consider replacing it with a compatible 12V LED festoon lamp.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Fermax Citymax 1L Audio Door Entry Kit, refer to the following common solutions:
- Audio Coupling/Feedback: If you experience significant audio feedback or coupling, the microphone gain on the interior handset may be too high. Open the handset and locate the potentiometer for the microphone. Adjust it downwards to reduce the gain and eliminate feedback.
- No Power/System Not Responding: The power supply unit is short-circuit protected. If a short circuit occurs, the unit may temporarily shut down. Turn off the main power to the unit for a few seconds, then restore power. The unit should reset and resume normal operation.
- No Sound from Outdoor Panel: Check all wiring connections to the outdoor panel and ensure they are secure. Verify the power supply is functioning correctly.
- Door Release Not Working: Inspect the wiring for the door release mechanism. Ensure the door lock itself is functioning mechanically.
