Care and Cleaning

Regular cleaning helps maintain the performance and longevity of your coffee maker.

Daily Cleaning

  • Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning.
  • Discard used coffee grounds and paper filter.
  • Wash the carafe, carafe lid, and removable filter basket in warm, soapy water. These parts can also be washed on the top rack of a dishwasher.
  • Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  • Do not immerse the coffee maker in water or any other liquid.

Decalcification (Mineral Deposit Removal)

Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting its performance. The "Clean" indicator light will illuminate when decalcification is recommended. Decalcify every 80 cycles or every 2-3 months, depending on water hardness.

  1. Empty the carafe and remove the filter from the filter basket.
  2. Fill the water reservoir with 4 cups of undiluted white household vinegar.
  3. Place the empty carafe on the heating plate.
  4. Press the "Select/Off" button to start a brew cycle. Allow half of the vinegar solution to brew into the carafe, then press "Select/Off" to turn off the coffee maker.
  5. Let the coffee maker soak for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Press the "Select/Off" button again to resume the brewing cycle and brew the remaining vinegar solution.
  7. Discard the vinegar solution from the carafe.
  8. Fill the water reservoir with a full carafe of fresh, cold water.
  9. Place the empty carafe on the heating plate and run a full brew cycle with just water to rinse the system.
  10. Repeat the fresh water rinse cycle at least two more times to ensure all vinegar residue is removed.
