4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Inserting the MicroSD Card
- Ensure the dashcam is powered off.
- Locate the TF (microSD) card slot on the side of the dashcam (refer to Figure 3.3).
- Insert a Class 10 (U3 recommended) microSD card (up to 128GB) into the slot until it clicks into place.
- To remove, gently push the card in until it springs out.
Note: A high-quality, U3 grade microSD card from a reputable brand is recommended for optimal 4K recording performance and reliability. The dashcam may not function correctly with lower-grade cards or if the card is not formatted.
4.2 Mounting the Dashcam
- Clean the desired area on your vehicle's windscreen.
- Attach the suction mount to the dashcam.
- Press the suction cup firmly against the windscreen and engage the lever to secure it.
- Adjust the dashcam's angle to ensure a clear view of the road ahead, avoiding obstruction of the driver's view.
4.3 Power Connection
- Connect the USB power cable to the dashcam's USB port (refer to Figure 3.4).
- Plug the other end of the USB cable into the car charger adapter.
- Insert the car charger adapter into your vehicle's 12V power outlet (cigarette lighter socket).
- Route the cable safely to avoid interference with driving controls.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Powering On/Off
- Automatic Operation: The dashcam will automatically power on and begin recording when your vehicle's ignition is turned on and power is supplied. It will power off shortly after the ignition is turned off.
- Manual Operation: Press and hold the Power button (refer to Figure 3.2) to manually turn the dashcam on or off.
5.2 Basic Recording
- Upon powering on, the dashcam will automatically start recording in a continuous loop.
- Video files are saved in segments (e.g., 1, 3, or 5 minutes) to the microSD card. When the card is full, the oldest unprotected files will be overwritten.
- The recording indicator (usually a red dot or icon) will be visible on the screen during recording.
5.3 G-Sensor (Emergency Recording)
- The built-in G-Sensor detects sudden impacts or rapid acceleration/deceleration.
- When triggered, the current recording segment is automatically locked and protected from being overwritten.
- The sensitivity of the G-Sensor can typically be adjusted in the dashcam's settings menu.
5.4 Motion Detection
- When enabled, the dashcam will automatically start recording if motion is detected in front of the lens while the vehicle is parked.
- This feature requires continuous power supply to the dashcam, even when the vehicle is off (e.g., via a hardwire kit, sold separately).
5.5 Menu Navigation and Settings
- Press the Menu button (refer to Figure 3.2) to access the settings menu.
- Use the Left and Right arrow buttons to navigate through menu options.
- Press the OK button to select an option or confirm a setting.
- Common settings include: Video Resolution (4K, 1080p), Loop Recording duration, G-Sensor sensitivity, Motion Detection, Date/Time, Audio Recording, and MicroSD card formatting.
5.6 Playback
- Stop recording (if active) by pressing the OK button.
- Enter playback mode via the Menu button.
- Use the Left and Right arrow buttons to browse through recorded videos.
- Press OK to play or pause a selected video.
- Alternatively, remove the microSD card and view files on a computer using a card reader.
6. Maintenance
6.1 MicroSD Card Formatting
- It is recommended to format the microSD card regularly (e.g., once a month) to maintain optimal performance and prevent data corruption.
- Format the card directly through the dashcam's settings menu.
- Formatting will erase all data on the card, so back up any important files beforehand.
6.2 Cleaning
- Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the dashcam's body.
- For the lens, use a lens cleaning cloth and solution specifically designed for optical surfaces.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
6.3 Environmental Considerations
- Avoid exposing the dashcam to extreme temperatures, especially prolonged direct sunlight in a parked vehicle. High temperatures can affect the device's longevity and performance.
- If possible, remove the dashcam from the windscreen or place it in a shaded area when parking for extended periods in hot climates.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Dashcam does not power on. | No power supply; faulty cable/charger; dashcam malfunction. | Check power connection to vehicle's 12V outlet. Ensure USB cable and car charger are functioning. Try a different power source if available. |
| Recording stops or files are corrupted. | MicroSD card issue (full, slow speed, corrupted); dashcam firmware issue. | Format the microSD card via the dashcam menu. Use a high-speed (U3) microSD card from a reputable brand. Replace the microSD card if the issue persists. Ensure the dashcam's firmware is up to date (check manufacturer's website). |
| Date and time reset after power off. | Internal battery/capacitor issue. | Ensure the dashcam is consistently receiving power when the vehicle is in use to allow the internal battery/capacitor to charge. If the issue persists, contact customer support. |
| Poor video quality (not 4K). | Incorrect resolution setting; dirty lens; low light conditions. | Check video resolution settings in the menu and ensure 4K is selected. Clean the camera lens. Note that night vision performance, while enhanced, may not match daytime 4K clarity. |
| Dashcam becomes excessively hot. | Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight; internal malfunction. | Avoid leaving the dashcam in direct sunlight for extended periods, especially in hot weather. If overheating occurs under normal operating conditions, discontinue use and contact customer support. |
