4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Data Transfer (Connected to PC)
When connected to a computer via USB, the docking station functions as an external drive enclosure. Insert your SATA drives into the slots, power on the device, and your computer should detect the drives. You can then access, read, and write data to the drives as you would with any other external storage device. The device supports USB 3.0 SuperSpeed up to 5 Gbps.
4.2 Clone Function (PC-less Duplication)
The clone function allows you to duplicate the contents of a source drive to a target drive without needing a computer. This is ideal for system backups or drive upgrades.
- Prepare Drives: Ensure both the source drive (the drive you want to copy FROM) and the target drive (the drive you want to copy TO) are free of errors. The target drive must be equal to or larger in capacity than the source drive.
- Insert Drives: Insert the source drive into the HDD A slot and the target drive into the HDD B slot.
- Disconnect from PC: Ensure the docking station is NOT connected to a computer via the USB cable. The clone function operates independently.
- Power On: Press the ON/OFF button to power on the docking station.
- Initiate Clone: Press and hold the CLONE button on the rear of the docking station for approximately 3-5 seconds until the LED indicator begins to flash. This confirms the cloning process has started.
- Monitor Progress: The LED indicator will show the cloning progress. It typically changes color or flashes in a specific pattern to indicate completion percentages (e.g., 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%). Refer to the device's specific LED behavior for exact indications.
- Cloning Complete: Once the cloning process is complete, the LED indicator will typically stop flashing and remain solid. You can then power off the docking station and remove the drives.
Important: All data on the target drive (HDD B) will be overwritten during the cloning process. Ensure you have backed up any important data from the target drive before initiating cloning.
5. Maintenance
- Keep the docking station clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
- Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
- Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device yourself. Contact qualified service personnel if issues arise.
- Ensure proper ventilation around the device during operation.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Device Not Powering On
- Check if the power adapter is securely connected to both the docking station and a working power outlet.
- Ensure the ON/OFF button is pressed.
6.2 Drives Not Detected by Computer
- Verify the USB 3.0 cable is securely connected to both the docking station and your computer.
- Ensure the docking station is powered on.
- Check if the drives are properly seated in their slots.
- Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer.
- For new drives, they may need to be initialized and formatted in your computer's Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS).
6.3 Clone Function Not Starting or Failing
- Ensure the docking station is NOT connected to a computer via USB during cloning.
- Verify the source drive is in HDD A and the target drive is in HDD B.
- Confirm the target drive's capacity is equal to or larger than the source drive's capacity.
- Press and hold the CLONE button for the required duration (3-5 seconds) until the LED indicator changes.
- Check for any errors on the source or target drives using a computer before attempting to clone.
