2. Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

3. Setup and First Use

Before using your coffeemaker for the first time, it is important to properly set it up and clean it.

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the coffeemaker and all its components from the packaging. Ensure all parts are present: coffeemaker unit, glass carafe, and reusable filter basket.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Wash the glass carafe and the reusable filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffeemaker with a soft, damp cloth.
  3. Placement: Place the coffeemaker on a flat, stable surface away from the edge of the counter. Ensure there is adequate space around the unit for ventilation and easy access to the water reservoir.
  4. First Brew Cycle (Cleaning): Before brewing coffee, run a full cycle with just water to clean the internal components. Fill the water reservoir to the 12-cup mark with cold water. Place the empty filter basket into its holder. Close the lid. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate. Press the "BREW NOW" button to start the cycle. Once complete, discard the water from the carafe.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your coffeemaker.

  1. Daily Cleaning: After each use, discard used coffee grounds and rinse the reusable filter basket and glass carafe with warm water. These parts are top-rack dishwasher safe. Wipe the exterior of the coffeemaker with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the coffeemaker unit in water.

    • Pour 4 cups of undiluted white household vinegar into the water reservoir.
    • Place an empty filter basket (without coffee) and the empty carafe on the warming plate.
    • Press the "BREW NOW" button and allow half of the vinegar solution to brew into the carafe.
    • Turn the coffeemaker off and let it soak for 30 minutes.
    • Turn the coffeemaker on again and brew the remaining vinegar solution.
