4. Setup and Installation

The ErGear Dual Monitor Arm offers two primary installation methods: C-Clamp and Grommet Mount. Choose the method best suited for your desk.

4.1 Choose Your Installation Method

Two installation options: Grommet Mount and Clamp Mount with desk thickness details

Figure 2: Illustration of the Grommet Mount and Clamp Mount options. Both support desk thickness from 1cm to 8cm.

4.2 C-Clamp Installation

  1. Attach the C-clamp to the main pole of the monitor arm.
  2. Position the clamp on the edge of your desk and tighten the knob until it is securely fastened. Ensure the desk thickness is between 1cm and 8cm.

4.3 Grommet Mount Installation

  1. If your desk has an existing grommet hole, remove its cover. If not, drill a hole (recommended diameter: 10-12mm) in your desired mounting location.
  2. Insert the grommet base through the hole and secure it from underneath the desk using the provided plate and nut. Ensure the desk thickness is between 1cm and 7cm.

4.4 Attaching Monitors

  1. Attach the VESA monitor plates to the back of your monitors using the appropriate screws and spacers from the hardware kit. The arm supports VESA patterns of 75x75mm and 100x100mm.
  2. Carefully slide the monitors (with attached VESA plates) onto the arms until they click securely into place.

4.5 Cable Management

Route your monitor and power cables through the integrated cable management channels on the arms and down the main pole to keep your workspace tidy.

5. Operating Instructions

The ErGear Dual Monitor Arm provides extensive adjustability for optimal viewing comfort and productivity.

5.1 Adjusting Height and Extension

The gas spring arms allow for effortless vertical movement and extension. Gently push or pull the monitor to your desired height and distance. The arm can raise up to 46cm and extend up to 52cm.

Figure 4: The monitor arm allows for a maximum height of 46cm and an extension of 52cm, along with 180° swivel and 360° rotation.

5.2 Tilt, Swivel, and Rotation

Each monitor can be independently adjusted:

  • Tilt: Adjust the screen angle up or down by +/-45°.
  • Swivel: Rotate the monitor horizontally by 180° at the arm joint and +/-90° at the VESA plate.
  • Rotation: Rotate the screen 360° from landscape to portrait orientation.

5.3 Gas Spring Tension Adjustment

If the arm does not hold its position or is too stiff, you may need to adjust the gas spring tension. Use the provided hex key to turn the adjustment screw located on the arm joint. Turn clockwise to increase tension for heavier monitors, and counter-clockwise to decrease tension for lighter monitors.

5.4 Multiple Screen Configurations

The dual arm design allows for various monitor setups to suit your workflow, including side-by-side, stacked, or one in portrait and one in landscape mode.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the monitor arm with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Periodic Checks: Regularly check all screws and connections to ensure they are tight and secure. Re-tighten if necessary.
  • Gas Spring: The gas spring is maintenance-free. Do not attempt to lubricate or disassemble it.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Arm does not hold position: The gas spring tension may be too low for your monitor's weight. Increase tension by turning the adjustment screw clockwise with the hex key.
  • Arm is too stiff to move: The gas spring tension may be too high. Decrease tension by turning the adjustment screw counter-clockwise.
  • Monitors are not level: Minor height adjustments can be made at the VESA plate attachment point. Ensure both arms are adjusted to the same tension if using monitors of similar weight.
  • Wobbling: Ensure the desk clamp or grommet mount is securely tightened to the desk. Check that all monitor attachment screws are tight.
