1. Introduction

The TOPDON BT100 is a versatile 12V automotive battery tester designed to provide critical information about battery health status. It performs a comprehensive analysis of various 12V lead-acid batteries, including regular flooded, AGM flat plate, AGM spiral, GEL, and EFB types, with a test range of 100-2000 CCA. This device is suitable for a broad array of vehicles such as cars, trucks, marine vessels, motorcycles, RVs, ATVs, SUVs, boats, yachts, mowers, and golf carts. It quickly and accurately identifies battery and charging problems, offering insights into voltage charge, internal resistance, and aging status.

To begin testing, ensure the vehicle's ignition is off. Connect the red clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the 12V battery and the black clamp to the negative (-) terminal. The BT100 unit will power on automatically once connected. Ensure a secure and clean connection for accurate readings.

6. Operating Instructions

Navigate through the menu using the 'ENTER', 'M' (Menu), 'EXIT', and arrow buttons.

6.1. Battery Test

  1. From the Main Menu, select 'Battery Test'.
  2. Select the appropriate battery type (e.g., Regular Flooded, AGM Flat Plate, GEL) from the list.
  3. Input the Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) rating of your battery. This information is typically found on the battery label.
  4. The tester will display the battery's health, charge, internal resistance, and voltage, along with a 'GOOD BATTERY', 'GOOD-RECHARGE', or 'REPLACE' status.

6.2. Cranking Test

  1. From the Main Menu, select 'Cranking Test'.
  2. The tester will prompt you to 'START ENGINE'.
  3. Start the vehicle's engine. The tester will analyze the starter motor's performance and display results such as cranking time, voltage, and status (e.g., 'NORMAL').

6.3. Charging Test

  1. From the Main Menu, select 'Charging Test'.
  2. The tester will prompt you to 'START ENGINE'.
  3. Start the vehicle's engine. The tester may instruct you to increase RPM to a specified level (e.g., 2500 r/min) and hold for a few seconds.
  4. The tester will evaluate the alternator's charging system, displaying loaded and unloaded voltages, ripple, and overall charging status (e.g., 'NORMAL').
