5. Setup
5.1 Power Connection
- Ensure the mixer's POWER switch is in the OFF position.
- Connect the provided power adapter to the AC INPUT on the rear panel of the mixer.
- Plug the power adapter into a suitable electrical outlet.
5.2 Connecting Inputs
The LMX12 USB offers various input options:
- Microphones: Connect microphones to the Combo XLR inputs (channels 1-10). These inputs accept both XLR and 1/4" TRS/TS connectors.
- Line-Level Devices: Connect instruments (keyboards, guitars with preamps) or other line-level audio sources to the 1/4" P10 (stereo) inputs.
- Stereo Input: Use the dedicated P10 L/R (stereo) input for stereo sources.
Note: For optimal sound quality, ensure all cables are securely connected and in good condition.
5.3 Connecting Outputs
- Main Speakers: Connect your main powered speakers or amplifier to the L/R Stereo (main output) jacks.
- Headphones: Plug your headphones into the dedicated P2 headphone jack.
- Auxiliary Devices: Use the auxiliary outputs to send signals to external effects processors, stage monitors, or recording devices.
5.4 USB and Bluetooth Connection
- USB Playback/Recording: Insert a USB flash drive into the USB port on the digital MP3 player section for playback of audio files or direct recording.
- Bluetooth Pairing: Activate Bluetooth on your mobile device. On the mixer's digital MP3 player, select the Bluetooth mode. The mixer will appear as "LMX12 USB" or similar. Select it to pair.
6. Operating the Mixer
6.1 Basic Mixing
- Power On: After all connections are made, switch the POWER button to ON.
- Set Gain: For each active input channel, speak or play into the microphone/instrument. Adjust the GAIN knob until the PEAK LED flashes only occasionally. This ensures a strong signal without distortion.
- Adjust EQ: Use the HIGH, MID, and LOW knobs to shape the tone of each channel. Start with all knobs at the center (flat) position and adjust to taste.
- Set Pan: Use the PAN knob to position the sound of each channel in the stereo field (left to right).
- Adjust Channel Faders: Slowly raise the channel faders to bring the sound into the mix.
- Adjust Main Output: Use the L MAIN OUT R faders to control the overall volume of the mix. Monitor the main output level meters to avoid clipping.
6.2 Using Effects (FX)
- Select Effect: On the digital effects section, use the PROGRAM knob to select one of the 16 available digital effects (e.g., Reverb, Delay). The selected effect number will be displayed.
- Send to FX: For each channel you want to apply effects to, adjust its individual FX knob. This sends a portion of that channel's signal to the effects processor.
- Adjust FX Return: Use the dedicated FX fader (often labeled FX or RETURN) to control the overall volume of the returned effect signal in the main mix.
6.3 Monitoring
- Headphones: Connect headphones to the P2 jack. The headphone volume is typically controlled by a dedicated PHONES knob.
- PFL (Pre-Fader Listen): Pressing the PFL button on a channel sends that channel's signal (before its fader) to the headphones, allowing you to listen to an individual source without affecting the main mix.
6.4 Digital MP3 Player (USB/Bluetooth)
- USB Playback: Insert a USB drive. Use the controls (Play/Pause, Next, Previous, Mode) on the digital MP3 player to navigate and play audio files.
- Bluetooth Playback: Once paired with a device, select Bluetooth mode on the MP3 player. Audio played from your paired device will be routed through the mixer.
- Recording: The USB port may also support direct recording of the main mix to a USB drive. Refer to the display and mode options for recording functionality.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Disconnect the power before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surface of the mixer. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the mixer in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Cable Care: Regularly inspect all cables for damage. Replace frayed or damaged cables to prevent signal loss or electrical hazards.
