3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

The Patriot Trail Camera operates on 8 AA batteries (not included). For optimal performance and battery life, it is recommended to use high-quality alkaline or lithium batteries.

  1. Open the camera casing by unlatching the side clips.
  2. Locate the battery compartment on the bottom section of the camera.
  3. Insert 8 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment securely.

3.2 SD Card Installation

A Class 10 SD card (up to 512 GB capacity) is required for storing photos and videos. The camera does not include an SD card.

  1. With the camera casing open, locate the SD card slot on the side of the internal unit.
  2. Insert the SD card into the slot with the label facing forward until it clicks into place.
  3. To remove, gently push the SD card in until it springs out.

3.3 Initial Power On and Basic Settings

After installing batteries and an SD card, you can power on the camera and configure basic settings.

  1. Slide the power switch to the 'ON' position. The 2-inch color viewing screen will illuminate.
  2. The camera will prompt you to set the date and time. Use the arrow buttons to navigate and the 'OK' button to confirm.
  3. It is recommended to format the SD card upon first use or after transferring files to ensure optimal performance. Navigate to the 'Format SD' option in the menu and confirm.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Navigating the Menu

Use the control panel and 2-inch screen to navigate the camera's settings:

  • Arrow Buttons: Use the Up, Down, Left, and Right arrows to move through menu options.
  • OK Button: Press 'OK' to select an option or confirm a setting.
  • M (Mode) Button: Switches between Setup Mode, Photo Mode, and Video Mode.
  • ON/OFF Switch: Powers the camera on or off.

4.2 Photo Mode

In Photo Mode, the camera captures still images. You can adjust settings such as photo resolution, picture delay, multi-shot, and time-lapse.

  • Resolution: Select desired image quality. Higher resolution results in larger file sizes.
  • Picture Delay: Sets the time interval before the camera takes the next picture after a trigger event.
  • Multi-Shot: Captures multiple images per trigger event.

4.3 Video Mode

In Video Mode, the camera records high-definition video clips. The Patriot supports 1080p Full HD video at up to 60 frames per second.

  • Video Resolution: Choose between available video resolutions (e.g., 1080p).
  • Video Length: Set the duration of each video clip.
  • Audio Recording: The camera records audio with video clips.

4.4 Night Illumination

The Patriot features military-grade invisible Infrared (IR) illumination for clear nighttime photos and videos. This technology ensures the camera remains undetectable to wildlife.

5.1 Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity of your camera.

  • Lens: Gently wipe the camera lens with a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the lens.
  • Casing: Clean the camera's exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.

5.2 Battery Replacement

Replace batteries when the battery indicator on the screen shows low power or when the camera ceases to function. Always replace all 8 AA batteries simultaneously with new ones to ensure consistent power.
