3. Setup

Initial Cleaning

1. Remove all packing materials, stickers, and plastic bands from the coffeemaker.
2. Wash the carafe and removable filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
3. Wipe the exterior of the coffeemaker with a damp cloth.

First Use (Cleaning Cycle)

Before brewing coffee for the first time, run a full brewing cycle with water only to clean the internal components.

1. Fill the water reservoir to the 12-cup mark with clean water.
2. Place the empty filter basket into its holder.
3. Place the empty carafe with its lid on the warming plate.
4. Plug the coffeemaker into an electrical outlet.
5. Press the ON/OFF button to start the brewing cycle.
6. Once the cycle is complete, discard the water from the carafe and turn off the coffeemaker.

4. Operating Instructions

Brewing Coffee

1. Open the coffeemaker lid and fill the water reservoir with desired amount of fresh, cold water (up to 12 cups).
2. Place a paper filter (or reusable filter, if applicable) into the removable filter basket.
3. Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter. (General recommendation: 1 tablespoon of coffee per 2 cups of water).
4. Close the coffeemaker lid securely.
5. Place the carafe with its lid onto the warming plate.
6. Plug the coffeemaker into an electrical outlet.
7. Press the ON/OFF button to begin brewing. The indicator light will illuminate.
8. Once brewing is complete, the coffeemaker will automatically switch to the 'Keep Warm' mode.

Setting the Clock

1. Plug in the coffeemaker. The digital display will flash '12:00'.
2. Press the HOUR button to set the hour. The 'PM' indicator will light up for afternoon hours.
3. Press the MIN button to set the minutes.
4. The clock is set once you stop pressing the buttons.

Programming Auto Brew

1. Set the current time using the HOUR and MIN buttons.
2. Press the PROG button. The display will flash '12:00'.
3. Use the HOUR and MIN buttons to set the desired time for brewing to start.
4. Press the AUTO button. The indicator light will illuminate, confirming the auto-brew is set.
5. The coffeemaker will automatically start brewing at the programmed time.

Brew Strength Selection

For a stronger cup of coffee, press the STRONG button before starting the brew cycle. This will initiate a slower brewing process for enhanced flavor extraction.

Sneak-A-Cup™ Feature

This feature temporarily stops the flow of coffee when the carafe is removed from the warming plate, allowing you to pour a cup before brewing is complete. To avoid overflow, replace the carafe within 20 seconds.

Adjustable Keep Warm Timer

The coffeemaker's heated carafe plate keeps coffee warm. You can adjust the duration of this 'Keep Warm' cycle according to your preference.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffeemaker.

Daily Cleaning

1. Always unplug the coffeemaker and allow it to cool before cleaning.
2. Remove the filter basket and discard used coffee grounds and paper filter.
3. Wash the carafe and filter basket in warm, soapy water. These parts are NOT dishwasher safe.
4. Wipe the exterior of the coffeemaker, warming plate, and control panel with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.

Descaling (Smart Clean System)

Mineral deposits from water can build up over time and affect coffeemaker performance. The 'CLEAN' button indicates when descaling is recommended.

1. Pour 4 cups of white vinegar into the water reservoir.
2. Place an empty paper filter in the filter basket.
3. Place the empty carafe with its lid on the warming plate.
4. Press the CLEAN button. The indicator light will illuminate.
5. Allow the coffeemaker to complete half of the brewing cycle, then press the ON/OFF button to turn it off and let it soak for at least 1 hour.
6. Press the ON/OFF button again to resume the cleaning cycle and complete the brew.
7. Once the cycle is complete, discard the vinegar solution.
8. Run 2-3 full cycles with clean water only to rinse out any remaining vinegar.
